CAI Headers Exhaust info
Well in the next few monhs im going to be buying another v6 alero and with the remaining loan money gonna put so stuff into it
i would like to know what CAI Headers ans exhaust system you guys are gonna recommend me, im wanting something higher end but mid price range help me out (: |
1.) Cold Air Intake - Ebay 3 piece set with K&N filter OR make your own intake... Intake piping is pretty much the same no matter where you go.
2.) Headers - As of now the only header options are Pacesetter or Milzy. Milzy's is a better design, but costs around $1000 while pacesetter can be bought at less than half the price and is a lower quality design and I belive they rust quicker. Edit: WOT-TECH has their own headers too but they are currently not taking any new orders until they catch up on the orders from many months ago. Exhaust - The only drop in exhaust systems available are Borla or Pacesetter and again pacesetter is a more suspectable to rust. Most people prefer a 2.5" exhaust on the Alero and the Borla is only 2.25", but is stainless steel and sounds awesome. Borla also costs more. Any competant performance exhaust shop can custom make you an exhaust system as well. |
I will have a coated set of S&S headers available in a few months if you can wait that long.

ok that sounds good how much are you wanting? and it will be a few months till i get my loan |

im guessing 500-600? |
The exhaust shop said 2.5" inch is too big and wont fit.... I tried to tell hem it should and they called me stupid and that i know nothing about cars.... O.o

Well eff them 2.5 will fit that is what i just got installed on my car a week ago.
|
To bad its the only exhaust shop in town.. unless i drive and check our Saskatoon almost everyone in this city is like that though, I'm looking for more performance then anything else so idk if a custom or borla would be better And i really want those S&S headers :D On a different topic though my friend has 6 turbo fuel injectors from his Supra and said they would fit in the alero... is this true? there 445 or something like that

Quote:
fuel injectors? dude....you dont need that for what your doing. stock is fine unless you plan on doing a BIG engine build. after the intake, headers and exhaust get port and polished upper and lower intake manifolds and a bigger TB ...that way you have a FULL exhaust system. |
Quote:
Yes i know but i plan on turboing in the future and i plan on porting and getting a bigger TB |

Hmmm did they even bother to look under your car? What a bunch of retards. They must not like making money at that shop. No worries though it's better for you to know that they're jackasses before they do work on your car and not after. |
I was told that 2.5" wouldnt fit as well... I just laughed at them and went to a different shop
|
If you have a good exhaust shop 3" will fit.
|
hahah i know i laughed in there face said there shop was shitty and left, And yeah shitty service most of the time means shitty work... so ill drive the hour and a half to a good shop and get them to do it for me

which shop was this? I want to know which ones to avoid  |
This is why i went to a shop were my buddy works. i also helped him install the exhaust to make sure it is installed properly. Hopefully i will be working there soon. it took us 2 trys to get the exhaust to fit over the axle.
|
Here's the deal: even a 2.5 mandrel bent pipe has to be very carefully custom fit to get over the axle without contacting the car. Most shops have to cut and test fit, don't get it right the first time. Even the SLP pipe had to be crimped at one point over the axle. No big deal, but it is extra work. They would rather do 4 simple jobs than take a day to do one complicated one.

Mm it was the one on Fairway Rd, by Weber, near the Husky gas station. I ended up going to Marken for my exhaust

hahah its called minute muffler... Takes 3 days to get a 3" straight back on a supra... and when we swaped it on to a different supra.... took us 30 mins..

installed a TBE on my buddies STI in 60 min but it was just taking the stock exhaust off and bolting up the UEL headers and 4 inch catless down pipe but this was 3 inch exhaust to a crawford racing muffler. That is why it is great to know how to weld and fabricate. You just need to get the exhaust piping bent correctly and then install it. |
Quote:
Exactly i love welding and i could weld it together myself... also there welding sucks... my buddies exhaust tip has about a 1/4 inch of bead left holding it on and he drove it 2 months before winter |
Quote:
wow that is bad you have to wonder how the rest of the spots were it is welded is holding up. |
hahah that was one of the only welds on #" straight back... pree much just one big tube im glad im not getting anything there Prob can get a full mandrel bent kit for cheaper then that place
