New here from GAGT.
Hi, I found this forum a little while ago, and decided to join. I am a member from GAGT, but a fan of N-bodies in general. My username there is kzulfic some of you may recognise it.
I currently own a navy blue metallic 2004 Grand Am SE2 LA1. A small list of mods, but plenty more to come with time. SC/T hood. Dual post mirrors. De-badged. 20% tint all around. GT tail lights. Eibach springs, and KYB Excel G struts. GT leather seats. Changed all gauge and window/locks to green. Double din Pioneer 7" DCS Player. MSD coils, and wires. Custom exhaust(replaced old muffler with glasspack) made by me. That's about for now, but collecting parts for a few others like GT conversion, and F40 swap. Plenty more in mind just the two I'm concentrating on now. Glad to be apart of another N-body forum. Hope to offer some advice or help, or even learn a thing or two. |
Welcome to the madness! muahahahaa
but, really, welcome... I'm a Malibu owner, former Alero owner and still stick around for n-body help and to see what random stuff people post |
i remember you, welcome.
we are alot nicer here then gagt usually is. ;) |
Welcome pics of car?
|
Welcome!
|
Thanks for the welcoming, I'll post pics tomorrow when I get to my comp. Working of phone atm.
I remember you too sleepy, can't forget that sexy n-body. Haha, I owned a malibu too, mine was 2000 just a bearer though, loved it never gave me to many problems. |
haha thanks!

Welcome to the site.

Welcome!!.
Haven't posted on GAGT in a while, was just on there yesterday looking up info on the 4T45 with that nice 3.29 FDR, which my Alero will have between Jan 2-4 :p |
Welcome to Aleromod. You'll find that the people here are a lot nicer than GAGT. Also, don't forget to join the other GA forum, GAOC. You can find some nice things for sale over there every now and then. Plus it's always a good idea to have the most info that you can.
Post Pics of the GA!! |

Thanks, and ya most places are nicer than GAGT, but i don't mind i don't really get a hard time over there. I have belonged to GAOC, for a while now i just don't go on there much, it's ok just don't like it as much as GAGT, 60degreev6 and Aleromod. This one is before suspension and dual posts. I one after, but the sun kinda ruined the pic. ![]() GT leather. ![]() Green window, and lock switches. ![]() Green ETS Button. ![]() Pioneer AVH-P4400BH ![]() Thats the most recent I have. I'll take some more soon. |
You got a black hood on there?
|
Ya, I didn't plan on putting it on until spring when I paint it, but someone offered me what I paid for the OEM for my aftermarket. I wasn't going to pass that up just to have a matching hood.
|
It doesn't look bad with a black hood, you could leave it. ;)
Now get a black trunk/spoiler. |
I thought about doing something like that, but the blue on my car is just amazing. when I do a nice wash and wax it's like no other. You have to see it in person to se the true beauty of it. I still might do a black SC/T spoiler and maybe the blisters on the hood.
|
That's a nice car dude!!
You should change the gear shifter handle to a GP GXP one. I did it and it makes the car look so much better. I'll post a pic of it later. It was too small of a mod to really "take pics". |

I like your idea. |
Welcome! Nice g/a. I like those stock g/a rims....def my favorite ones for the g/a. Love that color too....looks sharp...now get the hood painted! ;)

Ya, definitely my favorites on the GA too. I gotta wait till spring when its warm enough to paint. That will give me time to get the rest of my GT body parts. |

Post a pic for sure. I don't like the stock, or any aftermarket one either, so I just left it. |

Ok, so looking back, I think the car was a GTP, not a GXP. Regardless, the shifters on all GM automatics are interchangeable so long they are not gated and built before 2006 I believe. I know someone on the GAOC managed to put a G6 shifter in the GA but they said it took some modification. Anyways, here's my "small shifter mod" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Most GM shifters from the 90's and early 2000s had a "u" pin that was easily removable with a flathead screwdriver or needle nose pliers. As long as the car had the "u" pin, it would interchange. ![]() I've been told this shifter is leather wrapped and was only found on certain trims. I think the GT has it too, but not too sure. I either took it out of a GT or a GTP. It feels nice on the hand too. |
Aleros dont have the leather boot though so it may look wierd.
|
Heres a new pic after new springs, struts, and dual post mirrors.

Nice man!

If you take out the black plastic that holds the boot, you may be able to make it look better. I assume it would be like the shifter on a Cavalier. The Alero's shifter should be painted all black since part of it shows. I know mine is silver since it's covered by the boot. |
