How are you preparing your car for ASS 13?

I thought this would be a good question to ask.... How are you preparing your car for ASS 13, driving wise. In other words, what are you checking or changing to make sure the car can make it to Lansing?

I want to see more or less what people are doing in preparations for the trip.

Me personally, I'm changing my oil and possibly coolant. I'm also making sure that my suspension is in good shape.

fisdad 05-22-2013 07:51 AM

New stereo, fixed windo regulator glitch, remount rear seat, new wheel hubs, new exhaust, new gauge cluster setup, new dome light, new hid's, new strut tower bars, oil change, new decals, detail the interior, repaint the kit(touch up from winter), new mirror signals, new fog light, new headrests...being broke... On second thought.... I don't wanna talk about it :/

03glgold 05-22-2013 07:56 AM

I will replace oil and would like to have the waterpump replaced before going (ecotec internal pump w/ 163k on it, prolly about time), I would also like to confirm that the current slight knocking sound is my power steering pump, which I am 99% sure that it is, I also need to check the clutch on my a/c compressor because it doesn't seem like it is completely disengaging when I turn a/c off and it is slightly squealing, could possibly be refrigerant needs replaced as it has never been done on it?

03Sleepr 05-22-2013 08:34 AM

Unless you have a leak in your ac system you won't have to recharge it..sometimes a/c clutches go out, and they scream like a banshee when they do..

I'm replacing about everyrhing on my car...hoping to make it road worthy..and paint soon if I can find it..

Oldsman 05-22-2013 12:30 PM

Check oil and tires. Get an extra O2 sensor.

Redog 05-22-2013 12:58 PM

Change the oil (I'm due anyway) repaint the calipers becasue they look bad and I'm going to attempt to remove and paint the front header.

The rest is cleaning

sleepyalero 05-22-2013 01:32 PM

clean the car, oil change, coming up on 3000 miles. coolant already been replaced this year, o2 sensor new, everything else pretty good, all about driving around trying to make things fail before the trip and replace, so far shes running strong so im not worried.

WIALERO 05-22-2013 04:01 PM

Gunna get a new hood and fender within the next 3 weeks and replace back brakes along with finishing undercoating on the bottom

sleepyalero 05-22-2013 04:20 PM

i also need to rotate my tires before the trip

WIALERO 05-22-2013 05:02 PM

And I need an alignment lol forgot

What's wrong with your trans?

BTW, I think most people are upgrading their cars for the show.... I personally am just doing the oil and the coolant, checking the tires, etc.... I should do my rear shocks on the Cutty, but I'm debating.

sleepyalero 05-22-2013 09:19 PM

it blew up awhile back

Nas Escobar 05-22-2013 09:32 PM

wasn't sure since it has never had the a/c serviced and is 10 years old with 163k miles

xXManwhoreXx 05-23-2013 03:31 AM

I should try an ac recharge

Oldsman 05-23-2013 08:10 PM

That doesn't beat my dash with the screws drilled in to hold it in place, the dent where someone punched it because people in VA are stupid like that, and my beat up rear bumper from all of the DC parking

I prefer having a girl in mine.

Anyways, I drive farther every day than I do for ASS, so, nothing. Lol

sleepyalero 05-24-2013 12:24 PM

torque down your turbo bolts ;)

mfuller 05-24-2013 12:27 PM

I'll probably just get it detailed.
Running out of time to do anything else.

They have Nord-Lock washers. They can't loosen any farther than they are now.

They only stay tight for the first like, week. It's really dumb. I used Rocksett last time as well (ultra high temp/strength thread sealant) but apparently not enough. So yeah, it keeps being slightly wobbly, but not enough to cause any serious issues. I'm working on it. Stupid bolts don't hold torque, and the housing to the CHRA is very sensitive to how tight it is. If it's ANY bit loose, it'll wobble. I can't keep them as tight as they are the first time I put it together unless I weld it together.

jawa 05-24-2013 05:46 PM

drill out the bolt holes and run heli coils in it then you can touque it down nice n good

sleepyalero 05-24-2013 05:49 PM

real nice like

Dam I'd be pissed

Nas Escobar 05-25-2013 01:34 AM

I was too. IDC much about my rear bumper since its just the paint on it cracking. It's the dent that I was pissed about... well any stupidity that happens to my cars in Virginia pisses me the hell off, usually because the Virginia mentality basically is that "I'm right you're wrong no matter what"
