I was really interested in getting some quick before the fall/winter hits. Any words of wisdom? Silent ...you out there?

Silentalero 09-20-2004 03:31 PM

air ride tech has a good kit for our cars..

parker systems are pimp poop

chassistech aka rickey raer aka aim industries sucks so stay away from them

AGT 09-20-2004 03:33 PM

Whats up with chassis tech...I had one dude say they were okay....have you had them before?

Travis99Alero 09-20-2004 03:38 PM

i think u should juice it rather than go with air, but whatever floats your boat.

AGT 09-20-2004 03:40 PM

Heard juice was rougher? Juice can drop to the ground tho...I would hate having all those batteries tho

Silentalero 09-20-2004 03:41 PM

but thats why you buy accumulators aka remote mounted shock absorbers

yes i had chassistech, i was sponsored by them and had their best setup  which included plastic fittings

plastic fittings = suck for 150psi system

i only got 2 batteries in my trunk

AGT 09-20-2004 03:48 PM

OKay then ...you recommend a certain company for the juice? I admit 2 batteries wouldn't bother me...is that front back side to side?

Travis99Alero 09-20-2004 03:58 PM

i have a prohopper setup and like it. it rides pretty smooth, and definitely goes lower than air. u can fit 6 batteries across the back of your trunk without a problem, btw.

AGT 09-20-2004 04:03 PM

Okay I guess what I need to tell everyone is that I am looking for a pretty clean look....leaving enough trunk space for some storage and still having a smooth ride but not too much weight. I would like to be able to just the smoothest ride possible with the stockest look interior possible....

bdyman 09-20-2004 04:42 PM

i have air ride tech and the arc 2000 and yes i know the front doesn`t go as low but their struts are some of the best around you can do road racing with air ride stuff cross the finish line and lay the car out
that`s why i have them
to me juice is a maintance queen, oh poop i blew a seal oh poop the batteries are dead oh poop i have more problems then this is worth
to me not worth it like i said "it is a car not a carnival ride"
i highly recomend air ride products are the best around and the people are great to deal with and installing is very very easy

Silentalero 09-20-2004 05:03 PM

btw heres my trunk setup

AGT 09-20-2004 05:12 PM

Both Bdyman and SIlent have good points but with the trunk space being as limited as it is with Hyrdos I think I will have to go with Airride. Can I run 2 small tanks instead of just one...or 1 custom one under the trunk might be whats best for me...hmm...I have to have a lot more questions answered before i blow my wallet on something that isn't broke

bdyman 09-20-2004 06:18 PM

http://airride.com/productinfo/rideproe.asp
look down at the products they have

Silentalero 09-20-2004 06:34 PM

if your looking fro space then air is best

hydro is more for sho

Travis99Alero 09-20-2004 07:15 PM

air takes up less space, but hearing that damn compressor when ever you get switch happy sucks balls, as does running out of air. both suspensions have their pros and cons, and are priced fairly similar, so pick which ever one u like. the main reason i got rid of my air suspension was to go lower.

kwhauck 09-20-2004 09:36 PM

which would be better as a daily driver?

-Alero- 09-20-2004 10:05 PM

air ride can take a bit more abuse, as bdyman said you can race with it. and cant you get a silencer for that compressor? and cant you just take out your spare tire and put a air tank in there? i talked to some dude who had air bags on his civic. and he said he could play for a few hours of goin left right up and down on just a 5 gallon tank of air. so im probably gonna stick with air ride, if you wanna have fun and have a better ride as well as show off.

Silentalero 09-21-2004 12:34 AM

fwe hours on a 5 gallon tank? yea maybe if ya got 2 compressors running 100$ duty at 3/4hp

AGT 09-21-2004 04:18 PM

Yeah...I will probably stick with air but I want it so custom that it works the best for me...seperate purchase on the tanks, the compressors, everything. I want it to be made for my car so well that my tank(s) look good no matter where they are. Can't you just place the compressors on the outside like a Cadillac?

bdyman 09-21-2004 05:15 PM

some builders i know put compressor`s underneath the car i perfer inside and keeping everythin inside the car
i really would recomend putting the air ride inside the car
it`s cool you want to show off the tanks and stuff but my thing is to hide it all to keep the car looking stock i would not installing the air ride to the trunk floor not good build a wood frame for it
i really would stick with air ride tech products and no one else

AGT 09-21-2004 06:20 PM

What is the tank was made custom...not a common shape but made a certain shape any problems with that? i would pressure test it and get 2 compressors i want it when i need it

bdyman 09-21-2004 10:16 PM

lmao!! you do what you want it`s obvious you won`t listen

-Alero- 09-21-2004 10:40 PM

so if i got the cheapest kit air ride technologies has (ARC4000e) and bought a better compressor (Viair 400) could the car rise faster than 3-5 seconds? or does that depend on other stuff. j/w

Pimpalero03 09-21-2004 10:48 PM

dude thats not the cheapest. that had the pro e remote. go down the page. arc2000 is way to go

no it's not. a 2 gallon tank is waaay too small.

Silentalero 09-21-2004 11:58 PM

2 gallon tank? oh gadw, ur gonna run outta air in like 2 spurts, lol

Thats not what she said.....

Oh wait, way off topic. :huh?:

bdyman 09-22-2004 07:17 AM

no it doesn`t oh but wait wtf do i know the boys no more then i do
2 gallon tank is just fine

AGT 09-22-2004 10:46 AM

Bdyman I am talking about a tank that is 5 gal or more....custom shape shouldn't effect it as long as it is multi-port right? I'll listen but I need your input. I will definitely go with air ride tech but I want it my way the first time.

Travis99Alero 09-22-2004 11:08 AM

a 2 gallon tank is fine if u only want to put it down when u park, and lift it back up to drive, but if u want to really have fun with it and hit switches a lot, you're going to want atleast 1 5 gallon tank, if not more, and you'll want bigger lines than 1/4", in my opinion. if u go to a show and take 4-5 seconds to go up or down, you're going to be disappointed when everybody else that is bagged is a lot faster than you. but since bdyman is the only one that knows anything about air suspensions on this forum anymore, disregard my post.

as for a custom tank, the shape wont matter, but i cant see paying the price to have it done. a regular 5 or 6 gallon tank is only around $50-60, but having a custom shaped tank made is going to cost a lot more than that.

Silentalero 09-22-2004 11:29 AM

This again is where it gets into personal perference. Its like chris said, if you want to just make the car go down nice and easy when you park then you'll be fine with a 2 gal tank, but your most likely gonna have 2 switches..front and back.

If you wanna go with a 10 switch fast bag setup then yes, your gonna need a bigger tank, bigger lines (i had 3/4 lines on my old air) and itll be alot more fun at shows and even on the street. When you roll up next to somebody and just dump the car its fun.

But if you only do want to go up and down slowly then yes, listen to what chris (bdyman) has to say

AGT 09-22-2004 11:43 AM

The tank I will make...got all the tools and the experience will be up to my father haha...I am learning alll the welding and plasma cutting from him. I want to be good enough to do my handles eventually but with lead instead bondo. I won't pay for what I can learn for free.

Silentalero 09-22-2004 12:07 PM

good stuff, then yea make yourself a custom tank if you can do it yourself.

bdyman 09-22-2004 05:10 PM

it`s all about style i pull up and pimp it down slooooowwwwwwwwwww

AGT 09-22-2004 06:26 PM

What I was thinking was my custom tank (5 gal or larger, 4 port) , 2 good compressors at 3/4 hp a piece and 1/2-3/4" line, parker valves (8). I will mainly use it for when I park to set it down and when i start it up to get off the ground and go....on the road I want the ability to raise up if I see something in the road or lower slightly to accommodate wind. Is that too simple?

-Alero- 09-22-2004 10:50 PM

you and me both :P

Pimpalero03 09-22-2004 11:14 PM

here is a kit for teh alero. they make stage one two and three

air ride

Silentalero 09-23-2004 12:49 AM

why do i have an odd feeling that sounds like chassistech crap

AGT 09-23-2004 10:11 AM

Because it is...same layout on the webpage...they sure aren't being very sneaky....what was it that went wrong with your kit again Silent?

Silentalero 09-23-2004 11:21 AM

OH gawd, I could list em for hours but ok

Their compressors suck first off, the pressure switch went bad right away and kept turning the compressor on and off so i had to put a kill switch on that to, their tanks are not internally coated so they rust from the inside out, their lines are cheap ass air lines and crimp with any stress on them, their fittings are plastic ring fittings that you just slide the air line into, and with a 150psi line thats not gonna hold when things move. Their valves are a work of art, I had 2 of em go bad on me and stick within the first month of having it. And no i didnt get any teflon tape inside em like some may thing because that can cause it to. the bags themselves werent bad, basic bolt up but even then, if your rims are 18x8.5 itll rub by about 2mm's so we had to shave that off a bit on the rear bags. Solonoid, expect to replace the cheap on they give you. Ride sucks.

Only good points were the chrome tank looked nice, and ....the gauges actually worked, other than that, no thanx

I ended up replacing the valves with parker valves, and replacing all the lines and fittings with air compressor fittings and lines from home depot (300psi lines) so everything actually held up..

btw they use to be a sponsor of mine so i actually had one of their best kits to, oh and another thing, their tech support sucks a nut considering everytime i asked em something they referred me to another tech sheet basicly saying to figure it out myself
