Hey guys, I really want to get a white face gauge for my alero. How hard is it to pull of the needles. I have heard horror stories. I think it would look really awesome. Have any of you guys installed a new white face guage??? American Colorado Performance sells one for 25 dollars.

I installed my halo gauges recently and I didn't have to take the needles off at all. Just slide the new white gauges over the needles.

Dont you have to pull of the old black face. I heard from reivews that sometimes an exacto knife is needed to get off the old face. What kind of Glue, or adhesive would be needed? I know this does not have have to do with engine performance, but a appreciate your guys help. Thanks!!!!

there isn't an old face on the alero...all you do is just lay these ones right on top of your black face using 2 sided tape and you're done.
I went ahead and moved this to appearance while we're at it |
If you look in my cardomain in my sig. I have a pic of the white gauges installed and lit up.

Hehe, the post you were referring to to remove the old facing must have been pretty old.
Back before white face "halo" or "indiglow" type guages were available, we had decal kits for the gauges. I used to have silver guages with burgandy metallic olds logos. It looked pretty good, but the installation was a huge pain in the ass. You had to use an exacto knife to cut the glue between the guage cluster and the face. This needed to be done because the decals had to be applied with soapy water... and you didn't want water to get into the circuitboard of the cluster. But for the guage kits available now, you can just slide them on over the needles, and you don't need to pull them off. |
