I just bought a new 10 disc MP3/CD changer (FM modulated) which I'm going to install myself. (in the trunk)
I'm pretty competent at this stuff... but I was wondering if anyone who's already installed a changer in an Alero might have some tips for me on stuff like.... 1. Best direction to take when running the wires from the trunk to the HU. 2. Best place to mount the cd changer in the trunk 3. Best place to connect the power lead. 4. Getting at the FM antenna lead on the stock HU. 5. Any other tricks you might have learned during an install. Thanks in advance for any help. |
For my XM tunner I just ran everything straint down the middle under the carpet and center consol. If you remove the rear seat cusion which is held in by olny 2 clips which can be poped by a screwdriver which are in the front of the seat, you will notice that the carpet stops just after going under the seat. If you unbnolt the center consol youll be able to pass it out trough some hols in the carpet there and strait to your radio.

Sounds easy enough... thanks.
Where did you connect the power lead exactly? |
ran everything along the door jambs on the drivers side. power was supplied at the radio cd changer wire connection. mounted it in a great hiding spot. behind the carpet on the divers side, rigged up a bracket. keeps it out of eyesight. I can take some shots if you want to see.

pics would be phenom.... thanks!

When I had my changer I mounted it between the speakers in the trunk. Built a mount for it and looked real good. When I get home tonight I'll look and see if I still have it. If I have it I'll send it to you just cover the shipping cost. And I'll see if I still have pics so you can see it first.
