Does anyone have Speedhut guages, and how hard are they to install. I do not want to ruin my dash. The local shop does not guarantee, or warranty these guages for installation. Should I just install them myself? Thanks, Guys!!!!

Hey!
Yes, I've got the guages, and they were VERY easy to install. I've had them for about a year now, without any complaints. If you've got any other questions, just PM me. I'll have a good picture or two up tomorrow for you. Ej. |
as promised... I've got these (silver faced). I'll have to wait until tonight to get you a night shot, but hope this helps.

And here's how they look at night - sorry for the poor quality (still learning the camera).

I had speedhut gauges I can't remember which amod member I sold them to but here is a picture of them with the Carbon Fiber Bezel.

You can see the bezel in this picture

Thanks guys, all your pictures are really helpful, and look sweet. Now, I just need to decide which ones to get. How are the instructions that come with the guages. Can a novice like me install them?
|
all you need is some double sided tape and minimal wiring experience. you take apart your gauges by taking off the clear plastic part on top, then just slide the new faces over the needle. tape them in place from underneath, and then connect the wiring. wire them into the center console by the little cubby light. this works well. then, hide the transformer. and voila.

If I can install them, anyone with 2 hands can install them. There's a how-to somewhere on here....
just remember: gray wire = power, screw on firewall = ground |
Very simple. The hardest part was to realign the needles when you're done. I just remembered where they were when I took them off (Heat 0, RPM 0, Speed 0, Fuel 1/2). And that was that. Took me a total of I think 30 minutes. However, instead of the double sided take (that after a while might give because of heat, etc.,) I used thick super glue in areas on the back.

I didn't have to align anything. I slipped the gauges over the needles and they reset themselves when you turn the car on. The needles will move around when you remove the bezel but they will read right when you turn the car on. Well unless you accidently remove one of the needles.

...gah! I wish I knew that when I put them in...

Easiest way is to make yourself a Diagram and mark EXACTLY where they were... :thumb: |
yeah, don't take the needles off. slip the speedhuts over the needles then put the tape on.
|
if you looking to do, intelliglow needles... that would be a good time to do them, as well. since you have it torn apart, and wires already out there.
... then you WOULD have to take the needles off and mark where they were... |
