Hi Im a newbie. I little quick intro (I know I probably need to do this in the introduction area) but anyway my girlfriend has a 99 Alero 2dr auto with the 2.4 motor. My question is that there is a major leak im mean like a puddle that occurs on the driver side. Only the driver side. Ive pulled up the carpet to see if I could find where the water is coming from. Its all dry Ive even pour water all over the car in high volume to see if i could get it to reoccur. Ive done a search on aleromod and nbody.net and I found out that several people have had this leaking issue. A lot of people say its a leak under the cowl with plugged drains that causes the water to go in the the HVAC motor and spreads through the system. But the problem is I can not find any solutions to fix the problem nor can I recreate the leak. When it was raining really hard I pulled out the glovebox and and put my hand in the blower motor. i could see and feel it was a little wet so i belive this is the problem. I pulled off the cowl today to check for clogged drains and they are not. I even ran water through them again to see if I could find the issue. No over filling, so I dont think the drains are clogged. Can anybody elaborate or have any other tips to help me find the leak and solve the problem?
These are a couple of links i found that describes the same problem but not a solution or a descriptive one. http://www.n-body.net/forums/viewtopic.php...&highlight=leak http://invision.aleromod.com/index.p...pic=79&hl=leak Some pics I took to show you what im talking about. The blower motor ![]() The passenger side drain, you can see the edge for blower motor entrance ![]() The dirver side drain ![]() The whole setup ![]() The blower motor from behind the glove box, notice the rusty bracket ![]() Her car for all of you who love to see readers rides! ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance for all your help! |
most of the problems we've all had with leaking occurs because of the water deflector behind the door which leads to a nice puddle on the floor...

hmmm....mine never leaked...atleast nothing but hydraulic oil. tell that sturgill fellow to hurry up and get the truck done.

Haha, you still get on here even though you dont have an alero anymore! Sturgill is slowly getting it done. But has anybody had this problem or know of any solution? |
I think that the leak I have, you have to plan ahead to keep it from being a problem. It's a very slow leak so a car wash or a few buckets of water dumped on it won't cause the problem to show, but if it rains all day then you get the puddle sloshing around. As long as I don't park uphill then it's fine, parking downhill is ideal. My dealership said they coudn't fix it :Noooo:
