Does anyone know if the bumpers and sideskirts from Grand Am GTs (stock or aftermarket) will fit on a 2000 Alero GLS?
|
Nope. If I remember right, the mounting points on the bumpers (should be 3 mount points on both sides), are different because the fenders are slightly different in shape. If you drill in the holes yourself though, and need to 'squeeze' in the bumber you risk warping it and having things like bulges around the headlights.
Another thing is just that, the headlights, different shaped headlights = different shape cutout on the bumber. As for sideskirts? I don't see why not. |
front bumper definatley not because the headlights are different. You would need GA fenders, headlights, and the thing the head lights mount to. The sideskirts, eh maybe, im not sure at all. Bumper i doubt, but have no facts to back that up. But if you switched back bumpers your gonna have 2 spots for a license plate which will probably look dumb.

well... the front wont... the lights are different... the skirts should and i don't see why the back wouldn't... but since the front wont then back will look stupid
|
i thought about this at one point....not exactly what your saying but close. you ever see how some of the guys with sunfires have cavalier front ends and vise versa? since it's the same frame, everything pretty much bolts right up...they call it a cavfire and some of them look really nice.
that's what i was thinking about...taking a grand am front end (hood, fenders, headlights, front bumper) and putting it on an alero...........then i decided against it............but it could be done since the frames are the same. it'd be interesting to see how it would turn out. |
Side Skirts = will work.
Front bumper will work with a bunch of additional other parts. Rear Bumper = NO IMO: the GA front/Alero back can look alright with certain matching bodykits. (ie: AAS kit for the GA front, with the AAS Alero rear...not my style, but just an idea.) |
Would it be possible to take the GA Ram-Air hood and just have some extra molded onto the corners of it to fit down around the headlights right???
|
went outside and looked at my hood and buddy's Grand AM hood... you're better off just putting in scoops into the Alero hood...

All = fenders, hood, bumper, headlights, headlight mounting panel, maybe foglights |
why wouldnt it fit?? if you have the experience in custom work you can make anything fit on the car
but if you want it to be a simple bolt on piece then you will need these parts for the front end hood headlights fenders bumper headlight mounting panel the re-bar is the same hood hinges are the same secondary latch is the same fender liners are the same the"rocker panel moldings" not side skirts will fit with out any modification the rear of the car to make it a grand am swap the deck lid tail lights the re-bar is the same hinges are the same both primary and secondary latchs are the same so is the re-bar i too thought about doing this swap but i thought why do this when i can make anything fit and pay over 1,000 for a junk yard clip so in closing yes it can be done |
^ word, anything can be done with some amount of work. But for a simple bolt-on thing, you need to get all those parts. Brand new OEM parts from GM = roughly $3500, though. Get aftermarket (ie: bodykit/FG/CF) parts for about the same price, OR get used/junkyard parts that might already be painted for a whole lot cheaper.

Both of the preceeding posts are right on the mark, plus one more idea: There's alot more aftermarket support in terms of the GA than our 'hos.....so anyone who'd go the distance with this idea has alot of options available. For instance, why go with stock panels when aftermarket hoods and fenders are available? With a slick hood and fenders, the side skirts and rear of an aas kit would look amazing IMHO. I'm a fan of the factory SC/T GA hood, myself...... |
hey my brother has a ga gt front bumper if any one is interested it needs some paint work but it has no cracks
|
i would kill to get a GAGT ram air hood on my car, i love those hoods but the custom work that is needed to make it fit is beyond what i can do and to find someone around here to do it would be a nightmare for my wallet.
|
Thread revival. Might as well do this instead of start a new one.
I was just thinking about this the other day. Im thinking it would be an idea... not completley sure but where would you find the headlight clips where the headlight goes into? Junk yard only I assume. If I were to do it.. I would put a ram air gagt hood on. question about that is if you have the ga fenders And front will the hood line up fine or will there have to be more work to make it fit? |
you would have to do the whole grand am front end swap i think.

Just all this is really what I need. I've read a little bit about it so far still working on getting more info. |

Gotcha is junk yard the only place I can get the headlight clips?
|
the bumper support and foam crap have a way different shape as well, and you can get headlight panels aftermarket....
