I was wondering if anyone has removed their body molding and if there are holes behind it. If not it seems like an easy mod. It would be painted underneath correct?

smokinAMD 02-27-2004 12:53 AM

I don't know if there are holes behind it, but yeah, it is painted behind it. I had the displeasure of finding out when one of mine ripped off partially.

glsGreg 02-27-2004 02:36 AM

mine was starting to peel back a little in the front corner and i decided that it would look good without it altogether. I just didnt know whether I would need to fill the body panel for holes or anything like that.

sound_xtreme 02-27-2004 02:40 AM

no holes, just nasty sticky stuff

glsGreg 02-27-2004 03:08 AM

does anyone know where i could find pictures of this? i,personally think that it would look cleaner but am looking for other opinions as well. let me know what you guys think.

Skiboarder has his taken off. You will have to use elbow grease and goo gone to get the sticky crap off. I might do this to my car as well.

Naich 02-27-2004 09:55 AM

here is a pic

glsGreg 02-27-2004 11:41 AM

Thanks Naich, great pic, I knew you'd be the guy to make it happen ha. Thats definitely a project for this weekend assuming I can get into my parents garage.

loudalero 02-27-2004 12:58 PM

Yep no holes Ihave taken mine off and it really easy once you get it started but use a heat gun and take your time and you wont have alot of glue left on the car.

keytonic 02-27-2004 01:02 PM

yeah a heat gun works awesome and you'll have it done in like 15 - 20 min.

Naich 02-27-2004 02:26 PM

you could use a hair dryer too probably...

Silentalero 02-27-2004 03:00 PM

yea haha just dont do it in cold weather eh scott, lol (vinyl incident, lol)

sound_xtreme 02-27-2004 03:06 PM

I did this "mod" a long time ago

Aleromaster 02-27-2004 04:03 PM

Hey the link doesn't work. Anyone done it to a lighter colered car like red or something. Its kind of hard to tell on black as everythng seems to blendin anyway
Edit: WOOHOO it hit 200. I'm starting to get up there

misslindseysue 02-27-2004 04:22 PM

Take the last / off the end and it works

j{}n 02-27-2004 05:18 PM

aleromaster, i did this on my red two door. it looks much better. doesn't really do anything in the first place...

Aleromaster 02-27-2004 10:30 PM

I'm thinking of doing it myself but the only thing I worry about is mine actually has gowgaes(spelling?) in it meaning that it has been hit many times but other peoples doors(which is what it was intended for). Only worried that once I remove it some a hole will slam his door into mine.

wait for the summer...hot and sunny day will be perfect. It'll take you only 15-20 minutes to get all the residual sticky crap off then. If you do it in the cold, your fingers will get numb and be sore all day, and it'll take you about an hour.

As for worrying about a-holes slamming their door into yours, just park on the far end of the parking lot. You'll get a little extra exercise walking to the store. ;)

A: I'm lucky it is pretty much summer here,
B: I do park at the far end of the lots, usually because I have no choice. For some reason the stores around here are alsways like christmas.

A: helping out the dude who started this thing...he lives in Ohio, so it'll be pretty helpful for him to know that.
B: Same here!
