Hey guys, my brother drives my old Alero so I decided to show him the Razzi kit. He seemed to really like it, and I was wondering what it might cost for the paint? Also, I was wondering about any fitment issues?

We would plan on doing the prep work ourselves, and our uncle would likely paint it for us. How much would it cost for the primer and paint for this kit? The car is the stock ruby/maroon red.

Thanks

i'd proly do it for 3-400. tryin to remember how much paint used on mine.

it'd probably be 200 or so in costs for dupont.

You don't need much paint to paint the kit. There are a few auto body guys on here but my guess would be around 300.00 - 500.00. Just remember you get what you pay for.

ya, my quote may be a little low depending on what paint u have. i kinda quoted for a flat color, like the stock black or red, non metallic. and for dupont u'd want to stick with the chroma series, 7900 clear, etc.

thanks for offering sound_xtreme, but my uncle lives ~1 mi. from us and would likely do it for free in his garage (he did my kit for free). and he's no amateur, he's worked on restoring many cars, mostly AMC's.

the paint is the stock darker metallic red...

oh yea, and thanks for the quotes :)

post pix before and after, would love to see the job done

doubleN0alero 05-28-2006 12:35 PM

mine cost me $150 to get painted

ppgnut 05-28-2006 02:02 PM

materials aren`t cheap at all, a gallon of clear my cost is 160
just a example, but if your uncle is a body fender man why you askin a question when he is going to be doin it
i would do the job for 600 including fitting the kit and painting

Don't be worried if you don't get a price even close to this ^.

Thanks for the input so far guys. Also, any estimates on how much paint you used?

I was also wondering about fitment problems, I've seen the warp around the headlights, anything else?

my kit wasn't a full front or rear bumper. plus I did a two-tone job with metallic black and silver.

The front and rear pieces on the Razzi kit aren't actual bumpers, just bumper covers. So I'd imagine there's no problems with fitment.

the only real fitment issues is the back bumper. you either cut a few inches from the bottom of the stock bumper or deal with a little gap at the top on both sides.

I had a body shop install and paint mine. I also bought a new trunk lid for the Razzi wing, since I didn't know how welding up holes and refinishing the old trunk lid would turn out.
My shop uses their own primer, since they know it works and the paint would bond to it right. I also had the kit seam-sealed (not molded) so there are no gaps between the front and rear fascias and the OEM bumper covers. They also painted the entire bumper covers, not just the Razzi pieces.
People will say I'm nuts and got ripped off, but it looks damn good......nearly $2500.

sound_xtreme 05-30-2006 09:55 PM

haha ya, i woulda molded em for that!
