i used it on my vw a while back and i dont like the way it coats on the fabric the vinyl came out ok but still not the best to go for

pimpalero2003 06-13-2006 02:00 PM

thats what i used for my dash and door panels about 3 months ago it still looks good and its not rubbing off but go to walmart they have it there for like 4 bucks a can

I think the poop sucks and I wouldn't reccommend it to my worst enemy. Save your money and do it right, glass it or re-vinyl it.

pimpalero2003 06-16-2006 04:51 PM

ok glass it would be great but alot of time and money same with recovering it i have use the paint and it works great nothing has rubed off or nething

If you got to a paint suply store you can get vinyl resin paint which is actually ment to stick to the vinyl. Its a little pricy and you have to apply it with a paint gun but its what i used and it worked well, lasted about 2 1/2 years before it started to peel off and that was only in the high were areas that were plastic, i can't even scratch it off the vinyl if i wanted to.

Well i went ahead and used the stuff.. and i got to say i think it came out really good, it went on nice, and it stays on.

I'll get some pics up later if anyone is interested.

pimpalero2003 06-17-2006 11:27 PM

What about these dash covers I've seen on some sites... are those any good?

blackdog 06-18-2006 05:09 PM

I am going on the first year of having done this and I am SO sorry I did it. Took about 40 cans of paint and after sitting in the sun over a summer it started to chip and fade really bad to the point where I would have to redo it or just replace the vinyl. I am now installing new vinyl in the car so it looks clean and will last the life of the car and give me the look I am going for. The other option is to use a dye not a paint a dye. You have to be very careful when buying the dyes because 90% of the time they are paints of some sort. If you want pics of my dash, doors, and panels PM me and I will email them to you. After you see them you will change your mind about paint :) Oh and a famous line, you get what you pay for!

blackdog 06-29-2006 08:15 AM

I did a whole 4 door car panels and everything and yah it looks great when its done but just does not last. Nothing beats the real thing hands down. I will post a few pics when its done next week.

cavaliers60 06-30-2006 12:46 AM

well see, the thing is, I don't have the money to do it the better way, so I will just have to buy the cheaper paint and deal with it...

DarkStar 07-01-2006 12:40 AM

well it took a while but..

Its a little dusty but thats pretty much my interior..
Still got a little more to do on it.. (the blue painting tape on the vent...)

pimpalero2003 07-01-2006 09:45 AM

y do u have 4 inch speakers sitting on ur seat and also if u turn ur subs around theyl sound better

DarkStar 07-01-2006 12:28 PM

i have those speakers there because they add voice, my subs tend to drown out any actual sound.

Also if i have my subs facing the trunk.. the trunk rattles like crazy.
