I bought an L7 from my friend and i had it for about a week. He never told me that i would have to break it in so i just used it like normal...... then i blew it. So my friend said i should be able to take it to this place that would send it back to kicker and get it fixed for $25..... went there and they said they couldn't do it... :wah: :pissed: so now i dunno what to do.... i got a box and a blown L7 just chillin in my room....
i did hook up my old subs tho.. two 10" cerwin vegas  i know they are not that loud but they sound nice.
if you can think of anything i can do with my L7 lemme know..... thanks

everyone (except you) knows that you have to break it in first...its just like a brand new car, you dont go racing right away...poopty deal though, thats a good sub, see if you can find one cheap on ebay

StealthAlero99 03-02-2004 12:55 PM

no no no no no no no i know you have to break them in.... i thought that one was already broken in

99blackalero 03-02-2004 12:58 PM

he never told you it was brand new?

StealthAlero99 03-02-2004 01:04 PM

lol he said he used it for a week or two, i didn't know how long it took to break in a sub

99blackalero 03-02-2004 01:06 PM

lol...that sucks...well now you know for next time...lousy lesson to learn...i learned that way to with one of my subs last year, forgot about the break in period and cranked it, blew within a week, luckily my shop gave me a new one right away

StealthAlero99 03-02-2004 01:19 PM

lol nice... my friend has a friend (ya i dunno bout this either........) that works at kicker or something, and can get me a brand new L7 for 150$ according to him.... so i will have to check it out and stuff.... make sure i get a f0cking warrenty wit this one...

99blackalero 03-02-2004 01:31 PM

sounds good..if he works at kicker, see if he could possibly exchange it under warranty

sound_xtreme 03-02-2004 02:00 PM

break in for my subs consist of finding the biggest badest amp i have(or can get my hands on) and turning it all the way up. of course it is much easier for me to take stuff back. lol But if you are skilled and knoweldgable(which I know you are definetly NOT from your posts) you could take it apart and put a new voice coil(most likely the broken part, could be other things but not likely).

StealthAlero99 03-02-2004 02:42 PM

it tings when i push on it...... i know it can be fixed but i am not skilled and knowledgable about systems..... where could i take it to get it fixed? if it is as ez as you say shouldn't there be some place that can do it?

sound_xtreme 03-02-2004 02:49 PM

yes there are some places that can do it. maybe even locally. look stuff up in the yellow pages or ask around.

StealthAlero99 03-02-2004 02:56 PM

hahahaha........ yup ive witnessed this process.

of course when u have 10 extra subs of the same model brand new sitting in the garage it only takes 5 minutes to change the sub and go get the blown one replaced.

Yeah man kicker has been having issues with repairing the subs and amps since last summer. No offense but i think u might be screwed. I had the same problem luckly for my friend was the installer at the store i bought it from and he gave me a new sub and left the blowin sub for the store to deal with and to my knowlede Kicker didnt take it baq still still at the store. U can try to get it fixed might work might not but thats a chance u onna have to take.

you can call kicker direct and have them fix it for you. You will pay shipping and reconing fee. It will be close to 100 bucks. Thats what my L7 15 was to have fixed.

StealthAlero99 03-21-2004 12:28 AM

that is what i am goin to do, i have just been to buzy to call. it sucks tho............

xsavyor1 03-21-2004 01:42 PM

yea it sucks. It took kicker 3 months to get it back to me

Green Eyed Monster 03-23-2004 07:30 AM

I was wanting to get a set of 12" L7's , but are they worth it?????

StealthAlero99 03-23-2004 09:25 AM

I had one L7 and an Xtant 600W amp, and it was LOUD! as long as you don't push them too hard. I guess kicker is known for blowing... just buy new so that they have a warrenty, and you can just switch them up with new ones if they blow
