ok i just bought a 10" audiobahn alum10q sub on ebay and now i need a amp and i am kinda split between the 400 wat A4002T 2-CH amp or the AudioBahn A8002T 800 wat am. the sub i got is a 800w sub, and i was wonder if the 400watts will do the trick or not

99blackalero 03-05-2004 07:29 PM

go with the 800 watt amp

BLK03GXS 03-05-2004 08:06 PM

The A8002T is by far a bigger amp... it is closer to the limits of the sub you have chosen, allthou audiobahn is known to overrate their subs.. i think 400watts RMS for a single 10 is a lil high...
A couple questions.. what type of enclosure do you plan on putting this sub into? just sealed or ported or what? that makes a big differance...
And secondly do you plan on getting annother sub at a later date? if so i would definatly recomend getting the larger A8002T, as 200watts rms per 10 is about right.. 250-300 would be maxx me thinks...
In my buddys car we had 500watts rms going to 2 Alpine type r's in a ported box.. they loved it hahaha

aleropimp1 03-05-2004 08:20 PM

iam sticking with one ineed my trunk space and it will be in a sealed box

BLK03GXS 03-05-2004 09:20 PM

Ok then i would recomend the Larger amp, should sound pritty good... allthou i would go with a 12 :D

aleropimp1 03-05-2004 09:38 PM

would the 400 watt work like would get get loud, like hear it outside of my car loud, but not here me coming down the block loud

BLK03GXS 03-05-2004 10:14 PM

lol im sure that with either you will be able to leave a trail of sonic caos(hear it outside the car)..lol but the larger one would be a much better choice... but to be heard "On Teh BlOck" you'll need something bigger.. or more...lol
Like my buddys Sunfire... 18inch+1000watts rms=broken stuff, and pissed off neighbours lol  :D

My advice is to get the sub first in your hands and find out what the actual RMS and max power ratings are, or search yahoo for info on the exact sub...and then match the RMS to an amp...thats the best way to get an amp, because you can always turn down the power for the max end....I just bought a 1800watt rockford fosgate amp to run my 2 polk momo 10s and its an awesome setup (I have the subs in a sealed enclosure)....but also it depends on how you want to hook the sub up or if you intend to get more in the future...if we knew that info, we could probably tell you exactly what would be best

BLK03GXS 03-06-2004 12:51 AM

Yea... idealy thats what everyone should do....lol
I Googled the sub and checked it out... either amp would be ok, according to audiobahns ratings the larger amp is closer to the right power ratings, but if you go ported you dont need as much power.

aleropimp1 03-06-2004 01:11 AM

i was told not to get a ported box. also i am only getting one and i am staying with one. i need trunk space to fit my bike in, so i need it to be small yet loud.

BLK03GXS 03-06-2004 01:47 AM

Then i would go with a ported box, you will get more output just be carefull how you tune it... do it to some real specs, not just a random port...
It'll sound good either way, but be louder ported

aleropimp1 03-06-2004 11:32 AM

hmmm ported if i am building a 12 by 12boxand about 14" deep where would be a good place for a port

AleroRyda 03-06-2004 05:47 PM

I say get the bigger amp just in case. You can always turn down the gain if it is too much.

aleropimp1 03-06-2004 06:47 PM

YA I THINK I AM GOING TO GO WITH THE 800 WATT AMP ITS ONLY 50 BUCKS MORE SO MIGHT AS WELL ITS BETTER THAN BEING SHORT AND HAVING TO GET ANOTHER AMP

aleropimp1 03-07-2004 11:40 AM

welp igot the 800watt ampand the 10" audiobahn sub all off god old ebay for only 300 bucks :D. then once the sub comes in the boxbulding will begin. i think i am going to leave it sealed becouse i like my bass like my girls tight.

xsavyor1 03-21-2004 01:52 PM

if you build it right a ported box will be tight and hit much much harder.

Sweet setup there xsavyor1!
