Tint

I have seen this windshield tint on some Caddilac Cateras including my neighbors, some Mercedes, and I thought I saw it on some Oldsmobile Silhouettes........

What is the name of this tint?

I had the crazy idea of putting this tint on all windows of my alero. I didn't know if it would be a problem with my windshield because it comes stock on some cars......

Image too small, no idea what kind of tint you're talking about, since the window in the image looks normal.

Is it that stuff that makes minivans look like they have purple front windows?

Thats a pimp van lawlz, check out my pics in my sig, I have 20% all windows and 5% eyebrow on the front.

SweetNLow 09-19-2006 08:18 PM

tinting the windshield is illegal period......... no matter what percent you use

clutch1 09-19-2006 08:20 PM

Well how do those minivans get the purpleness on the front? I've always wondered.

SweetNLow 09-19-2006 08:31 PM

i think thats more of a reflection in the photo not tint.

remember that cars have "safty glass" in them which is afew thin layers of plastic sandwiched between layers of glass. it prevents glass from shattering into a billion pieces and going all over the place. im sure you know what im talkin about.

but more than likely thats why you see the "tint" in some photo's

TimG 09-19-2006 08:32 PM

Im almost sure the catera and the van have that stock just because thats the only way they could tint it and kinda get away with it. I guess it makes sense if its that safty glass stuff.

Oldsnut 09-19-2006 08:48 PM

I think SweetnLow had it pegged.

Menace 09-19-2006 10:03 PM

why would you ever want tint like that it looks horrible

TimG 09-23-2006 06:50 PM

it started out as just a crazy idea i had at first, but then i got into thinkin how they would get away with it since tinting you windshield is not legal

Menace 09-23-2006 07:31 PM

Factory tint is legal. Some fords have 5% factory tint on their back windows, nothing you can do about it. I know people who have tinted their front window and its retarted, they cant see sh@t.

tinting the back windows is perfectly legal... you can paint it black if you want... only catch is that you have to have two functional side mirrors... think about it... work vans dont even have a rear window... and they are legal... you can black out your rear seat windows too... the cops just gotta be able to see in the front of the vehicle and you gotta be able to see where youre going... other than that... any tint is legal.

All cars come with the windshields having safety glass.

so some minivans have certain plastic in their front windows that makes them purple from the outside.. how odd.
