Cosmo Racing Short Shifter

Has anyone purchased the Cosmo Racing Short Shifter? I've seen Cosmo Product around and they seem like a reputable name. But I havn't found any reviews on the shifters. They have a short shifter on Ebay selling for $65 CND shipping from Canada (which is good for me). :coolio:

Any luck with this product? I don't want to take any chances with my tranny, but I don't have to cash to spend on the B&M.

I'm debating the B&M and the Cosmo Racing shifter but will probably go for a B&M anyways. I haven't heard anything about the Cosmo Racing shifter.

How much would we be paying for the B&M shifter in Ontario?

Mischief007 10-24-2006 10:27 PM

I can only find out from the states at about $210 CDN total with shipping. A local store wanted $272 plus tax. Insane.

Also, I know the B&M has the reverse lockout collar and the Cosmo doesn't look like it has one.

There's a reverse lockout on the cosmo one from that pic of the ebay auction. The shifter is upside down in the pic. Most likely they're all the same, or very similar (Cosmo, B&M, Fidanza)

Do you have a manual tranny?

Paul_Murczek 10-25-2006 01:49 PM

.....ya! ...I wouldn't be looking at short shifters for an Auto..
I have a 2000 Alero 2.4, 5 speed

I'm almost positive that the cosmo shifter has the reverse lockout. The shifter is cheaper to purchase directly from there website, and they have combined shipping rates. So I'd likely get the cosmo short Ram for the 2.4 when they're in stock. They have combined shipping for $20 on both items.

They have a chrome Shift knob available for an extra $10.

Paul_Murczek 10-25-2006 01:53 PM

$50.50 USD for the shifter plus, $10 USD for the shift knob

$74.50 USD for the short Rams (out of Stock)

http://www.cosmoracing.com/productin...d=260&pid=1361

$20 shipping on both

I have been looking into the same items. If you decide to get them post up what you think of them.

Mischief007 10-25-2006 10:58 PM

That is very tempting then. Get the short shifter and the Short ram intake for my Ecotec.

Alero_1986 12-24-2006 12:25 AM

my Cosmo Short shifter arrived yesterday with the WAI....
DAMN the OEM shift knob! ....there is no way that it was comming off without heat! I twisted, I Pulled but it didn't even move. Definatly go for the chrome knob offered from Cosmo.. for $10 it looks nice, and it's not worth the effort of trying to salvage the factory knob.

Cliff8928 12-25-2006 01:32 AM

That could be one reason for the Cosmo being cheaper. I believe the B&M comes with a knob.

nhartwell 12-25-2006 01:56 AM

B&M does not come with a knob to my knowledge, but maybe you are right. Anyways, yes both B&M and cosmo have a reverse lockout collar. And both accept most aftermarket shift knobs. Why would u want the stock knob??? lol. Anyways, I will post pics of my cosmo shifter shortley once finished.

Spilner521 12-26-2006 02:16 AM

B&M does come with a knob. It's a straight "bolt on and go" piece.

well either way, they accept aftermarket knobs :)

Alero_1986 12-27-2006 12:05 PM

The cosmo came with a Chrome Shift knob for and extra $10.... I wanted to salvage the factory knob, because it had to come off so that I could get a clip and an o-ring off the shifter. ...I checked the posts on this site and apparently the stock knobs come off with some effort..
....well I lost it!!:banghead: , and I ended up ripping it off so that I could get the job done
