Brakes "slipping" in rainy weather

I'm trying to sell my car (i got another one), an i think I should fix this problem:
I have four wheel disc brakes on this 00' GLS
-no idea what brand, they came with the car

When the roads are dry my brakes work fine.
When the roads are wet (rain) it feels like the brakes are slipping. I can still stop, but I have to press the pedal much harder.

Also (this may be unrelated) at 10 mph or so, you can hear a "swish, swish, swish" from the front wheels.

Any help soon would be appreciated, as the car goes in the paper tomorrow.

ever changed the brake pads? or rotors? or anything? how many miles do you have?

Sound like you got organic brake pads. Try switching to ceramic first if problems still here. then check to see if mount bracket is touching the rotors or not.

44k miles on the car. I've never done any brake work--bought the car as a repairable with 37k on it.

Why do you think these are organic pads? (They don't look OEM, but...?)

And won't ceramic pads ruin the rotors if they aren't up to the same specs?

most opened wheel disc brakes do that. just give em a good tap.

you just need new pads, around that is when i changed mine routine maintenance, just change those and sell it, anything else the new owner can take care of

Semi-metallic or ceramic? (With OEM-style rotors)

I guess I'll go with ceramic....
