I was just searching the web and stumbled over this. I never knew he did a custom turbo setup. And i don't know whos grand am it is, but he lists all the steps for making a custom turbo kit i don't know if its for the grand am or alero, but its something to think about. P.S. those turbo calculators are pretty neat. http://www.jeepnuts.com/12sGASE/turbo.htm#Misc

Heres some pictures

yeah, I met homegrown at GAP... but his transmission was not working *either that or he blew his motor, I can't remember* good guy, and nice setup.

Skiboarder311 03-29-2004 01:38 AM

Yeah, u didn't know about him.

last i heard he blew his engine up, cuz of too much advance in timing

StealthAlero 03-29-2004 11:46 AM

ohh sorry, i know the pics are of homegrowns alero, but the site that i was on was for someones grand am off gagt.com i believe, and i wasn't sure if the list of parts for making the custom turbo was for the alero or grand am. Custom is nice, but to much work with tuning, i'll wait for HP.

nguyen187 03-30-2004 12:22 AM

wow can't believe he would advance his timing, that is assuming he did! anyhow it is a really nice setup, especially being custom and all, trust me custom Sh@t is not that easy! If he did blow the motor hope he rebuilds that monster!

The work looks good, but the idea was from the malibu concept car, the setup is the exact same, I'm sure thats where he got the idea to design it that way...

Hes posted over on gagt rececently. I believe he said his vehicle is fully operational again. Im sure we'll see some numbers from him this summer.

Skiboarder311 03-30-2004 08:22 AM

yeah i'm pretty sure it was timing advance, but not 100% sure

last i heard it was still bein re built, i don't keep up onn GAGT alot though so he might be back up and running by now

maybe i am wrong, but I am suprised to see the MAF sensor AFTER the turbo...on most applications the MAF is before the turbo...like on the supercharger kit for our alero's the MAF is relocated to right before the turbo....the reason why I am surpised is because you'd think that 7psi(i think thats what I read) of boosted air flowing through that MAF sensor would damage the sensor elements inside of it (which is why they usually have the MAF BEFORE the turbo, not after)

The site you were at was made by Craig99SE...the same guy that many of us had problems when we sent him money for items he never sent to us. He never got around to building the turbo 'cause in the end he said the Grand Am wasn't worth it...
