Was Thinking!!

Phoned Minute Muffler near my place, and was thinkin of putting new custom 2.25" catback exhaust piping with a Flowmaster 40 single outlet only gonna cost me $350 parts and labour not including taxes, on my alero, does that sound like a good idea??? now im in a little controversy, he says that it would be a good Idea to put a freeflowing catalytic converter on as well, will cost around $170.........also I can't seem to find any headers for the alero 2.4L.....I heard pacesetter makes them but still can't find it???????????

once posted.....

Someone recently posted a big study on freeflow cats..

The study found, that bang for buck.. the difference is hardly worth it..
from the stock GM cat.

I think is finished with some quote like if your drag racing and trying to shave thousandths of seconds off your time, then it would be the only real reason to get a better one..

dont bother.. its an upsell..

You'd be better just buying e85 gas, and getting your all your rubber pipes changed if your looking for a difference..

HazMatt24 02-26-2007 11:07 AM

The free flow cat also won't do you any good until you put headers on

diablo 02-26-2007 11:12 AM

ok, so no cat conv. so now, how do u like the idea for the new exhaust?

Redog 02-26-2007 11:52 AM

;) IDK if a 4 banger can push a 40 :ninja: but they do make a 60 series for sport compact.

Do some more reseach on the muffler first, but I love the idea. Take your time and do it right ;)

diablo 02-26-2007 12:31 PM

does the 60 series sound just as good as the 40?

diablo 02-26-2007 12:40 PM

called minute muffler again and they can't get they're hands on a flowmaster cause they don't deal with manufactures tha make flowmaster, they said they do magnaflow, is there anything specificaly I should look at in magnaflow?

diablo 02-26-2007 12:45 PM

cause I also want quite abit of exterior noise

cavaliers60 02-26-2007 12:58 PM

I beleive pacesetter makes a exhaust system for the 2.4l... I beleive you can find that on andysautosport.com

Redog 02-26-2007 12:59 PM

You can get a Flowmaster from Summit for about $80

Sound clips here

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/

diablo 02-26-2007 01:15 PM

checked out the sound clips, i love the 40 series, the 60 sounds too much like import, but I really want that 40, is there nything apart from going 2.25" pipin I can do to get the 40?

diablo 02-26-2007 01:18 PM

it says its universal on summit

diablo 02-26-2007 01:31 PM

you know what, 40 series it is, hopefuly it works

billytheman1188 02-26-2007 02:37 PM

You want the pacesetter headers, go to www.car-stuff.com , they have them there.

diablo 02-26-2007 02:38 PM

diablo 02-26-2007 02:39 PM

oh and was taking to double0alero, im going for magnaflow......but im still changing the piping to 2.25"

diablo 02-26-2007 02:43 PM

http://www.car-stuff.com/performance...3&skipped=true

would this actually be better than getting new piping and muffler, as said up at top of thread, $350 not including taxes,(CDN) would I actually save money?

diablo 02-27-2007 09:33 AM

?????

Cliff8928 02-27-2007 12:57 PM

Well, do you want a dual outlet exhaust? The picture there is generic.

diablo 02-27-2007 01:21 PM

I prefer to have duel outlet exhaust, what do u mean the pic is generic?
