Engine gets hot.....
alright, well when im in stop and go traffic my engine temp needle will go up a little over half way to the 3rd mark. then when im driving without stopping it goes back down. now this has never happened to me. i thought it was cause the engine gets hot while im stopped, but its never done this to me before. is this a problem i need to get checked out? or should i just let it go?? does this happen to anybody else?

maybe you should paint it a cool BLUE color again. lol j/k If I'm going around town, sometimes my car does the same... Doesn't get quite as high as yours though....
|
i thought this was gonna be a typical "my engine goes to the half way mark while driving" billy thread... :lol:
Mine does that in the summer. If it gets to the point where i start to worry, i just turn on air to "heat" and let that blast some heat off the engine. (just make sure the windows are open... i know if i didn't put that in there, you'd pass out from heat exhaustion) |
^^ haha nice.....
|
lmao:lol::lol:
my needle just goes half way past where it usually is, not too high. but i just wanna make sure my baby is ok:rolleyes2: |
Mine will jump around like that to, but it really depends on how hard youve been driving her.;)

me too....... i saw the partcial title of the thread and thought to myself "well no shit thats what happens when you run it." but anyways....... ill give you a none ahoe response billy. my car DID the exact same thing. its totally normal....... why doenst my car do this anymore? well when i took my needles off to instally my white face guages..... i moved the needle so that when it was fully warm it would be exactly at half way instead of 2/3. basically i ran the car for along time and knew it was hot. i had the cluster plugged in but the needle off the cluster. so since i knew it would normally be reading 2/3...... i just lined the needle up at half way so it didnt annoy the piss outta me. |
turning the a/c on will cool it down faster than turning the heat. a/c turns on the class II high speed fan IIRC.

Billy, are you in an area with a lot of bugs and debris flying around? If you are you might want to take a pressure washer and clean off the radiator, you might have some of the air flow blocked by dead bugs and such.
Stupid question, have you checked the coolant level lately???? |

Im kind messed up right now, but are you trying to say that my gauges arent lined up right??? cause i definitley lined them up exactly. and for the last year the gauge has never done this, its just starting to happen. |

reading comprehension skills of a pet hampster... i swear... :lol: brent was saying he purposely lined his own up wrong, so he didn't have to see it that high. And mine only did it when i drove home in the summer, 150miles, then sat in traffic, in the sun, when it was like high 80s.... i expected it to move some... |

yes i am in an area with a lot of bugs and debris. I will have to clean my radiator when i wash my car. and yes, i have been checking the coolant level ever since i got my LIM fixed (i wanted to make sure it wasnt leaking). |
check your coolant, clean your radiator, check to make sure none of the hoses are kinked and it's messing up the coolant flow, and if you are running a bunch of accessories at the same time that doesn't help.
