Blower does only work in 3 and 4 (and not in 1 and 2)
hello,
My Alero 2001 2.4 has a problem. The blower (dash air vent) doesn't work in 1 and 2, i checked the fuses, and they are alright. Does somebody know where i have to look ? greetings Patrick (Netherlands Europe) |
it's the resistor for your blower motor. classic GM problem.
|
Thanks Steve, for your quick reaction.
Can you tell me where i can find this resistor. And how can you see if it's broken ? greetings Patrick |
Its under the passanger side dash, behind the blower motor, Its a bit tricky to get to. its a little circuit board, so when ou take it out, you will see the bad traces i think they are called. If I remember correctly, its has a 4 wire harness going into it. hope that helps.

hi Steve,
Is this the part ? If so, can i meassure it,if it is really broken ? it has 5 wire to it. ![]() greetings Patrick |
that looks like the one, I'm sure you can measure it, although I never did before. But I'm 99.9% positive thats what is causing your problem.
now that I think about it, it makes sense that there is 5 wires going to it. |
replace ur blower motor resistor, u can get it from autozon for like 20 bucks and do it urself
|
hi Steve,
i replaced the restistor, with a new one. the blower is working again. thanks for your information greetings Patrick |
looking at that image you can see the burnt traces

I've got an offer from a german part distributor he wants about 38 US$ for the resistor.
Can anyone provide me with the "official" price from GM? |
It's around $30 CAD here... a resistor is a resistor... if it'll fix it just get it
|
I paid $20US for mine at Murray's, but they probably have to import it all they way to Germany, so that sounds like a fair price. You could check gmpartsdirect.com, but I don't know if it'd ship that far (or what it would cost).

OK thanx, I've ordered it :)
