Shaved Trunk

So I picked up a new trunklid from the yard today to start working on shaving.I was wondering what is the best method to do this?I want to lose the lights and spot for the license plate. Then put the plate at an angle. Also what have people done as far as back up lights?

Trial and error, it just sometimes you only got one shot! So take your time, you push a car itll push back just as fast if you try to get it done to fast.

Haha, threadchop ftw.

Good luck with the project though, they're right, the knowledge you get from attempting it once will be good stuff. Even if it don't work right it's metal and you can keep pissing with it until you come up with something that does.

I don't know metal work at all.. but isn't it:

1. cut metal to fill the empty taillight space
2. clamp metal in place and tac it in with small weld spots all the way around
3. grind down to smoothe
4. apply light body filler and sand to nice and smoothe
5. seal, prime, paint, etc.

?

If it does take body filler use good stuff, not Bondo.

I'm not sure if it's the same, but people who do fiberglass work seem to swear by Rage Gold, so I'd check that out.

Then again, all this is me trying to me helpful in a topic I know nothing about, ahaha.

Sorry, good luck with the project!
