how hot is normal??

hey ive had this question for the longest whats the normal running temp on our v6 engines even after i got my lim done i noticed it was always above the half mark well into the 3/4 mark so im just curious and if it is a problem what should i do

doubleN0alero 08-03-2007 02:31 PM

i'd worry when its gets over the 3/4th mark..mine ran between those intervals as well...wouldn't be a bad thing to check out the antifreeze while you've got some time and just make sure its good to go

AGT 08-03-2007 02:39 PM

Mine ran this way as well. This is not so much of a problem until you are in traffic.

Exit9alero 08-03-2007 02:50 PM

soo high temps are a common issue with the v6 huh ive noticed like hate waves comming from under my car wen i have the windows down in traffic

p1mptress 08-03-2007 02:57 PM

my v6 always stays at half or a little below.

leroBob 08-03-2007 03:00 PM

Exit9alero 08-03-2007 03:04 PM

rustyballs_69 08-03-2007 05:49 PM

mine does not go past the half way mark ever.....only because i dont let it, because i got this!

it may be 90$ but it was worth it mainly because it spins the fans whenever you want and dissapates heat efficiently

From what I've read in another thread, our temp gauges aren't the most accurate. Mine sits right in the middle, but others are above or below that by a little or a lot. Best thing to do is learn where it usually reads and use that as a baseline to determine if you're heating up too much.

I would get a new temp sensor, they are like 10 bucks a checker.

I ran out of gas but it said i had 1/4 of a tank.

Redog 08-03-2007 11:48 PM

Mine hangs out between 1/4 and 1/2. Right in the middle, but I do have a 180* thermo in there too.

It will creep up just under 1/2 when it's 95+ and really humid and I'm cruising

CiscoPath 08-04-2007 11:58 AM

^^Ditto. Installed the 180 thermo and it actually sits directly below the middle tick mark. If it goes even the slightest bit over (during normal driving; no heavy traffic), I add more freeze
