Bought a used 2001 Alero GLS with a broken air dam. (Black plastic, three pieces, passenger side needs to be replaced.) Seems GM does not offer this part as a service part unless you buy a new bumper cover. $$$$ Has anyone found an after market source? Maybe a hidden GM part number?
my gm dealer replaced mine for me
Wish mine would, but no such luck!
go to the junkyard maybe ull get lucky
maybe the parts guy didnt know what you were talking about...try telling him the front fascia under the front bumper. I had to replace one of the side peices last week. If you cant find it near you I can order it from the gm dealership I work at and send it out to your at my price since I get a discount as long as you pay the shipping.
If you have the part number the dealer ordered I can do the same here in Detroit.....
Like others said: The part can be purchased through Your parts dept. They should have it as it is a common replacement part & is less than $30.00
The center piece is just a small piece of plastic, but the two "sides" are actually part of the entire fenderwell liner, they arent seperate pieces
use some sissors and cut the dam thing off. its gonna break again

exactly, mine's broken a grand total of six times so i finally just hacked the little s.o.b. off. i left the middle one there and just cut off the sides. looks alright i guess, better than having one of the corners all f'ed up and the rest of it solid. |
all of mine eventually came off. but then again look at how low my car was and now that i look at the cross member its all beat to hell. SO, yea, ditch the stupid thing.
Does it actually serve a purpose other than BREAKING every time you bottom out? Mine broke once so i just ripped the mother f*er off...it looks better without it anyway!
I ripped mine off once. Next day I look at the car "Uh, where's my fog light?" So be careful what you cut off.
There's a million dealer in the motor city, one of them should be able to give you a part number. It is the whole fender liner, but it was less than $100. You don't have to buy the bumper cover though. Where are you in Detroit? I can send you to a good shop. |
Thanks all for your input. It turns out that the center piece is the radiator support, and the left and right are parts of the wheel well inner. The dealer finally located the part numbers and the left or right should cost less than $25.00 each.
That's sounds better.

I need one myself for the passenger side. The local olds dealer said it would cost 26 dollars.
