Best year/model

Right now I have a 99 and I like it, cept I am havin troubles with this one in particular. Anyway, among other things that have happened to my car prior to my ownership, I get shatty MPG. bout 16 in town easy driven. I am lookin at tradin it in, and I want to know what the best model/year for MPG is.

alero440 09-11-2007 05:56 PM

should all be the same year wise... however, a smaller motor will give you better MPG so go with the ecotec which is like 02-04 I believe.

DOHC_tuner 09-11-2007 06:13 PM

maybe you need a tune-up, and i heard seafoam helps.

jayson_waltz 09-11-2007 06:18 PM

do you have the 4 cyl or the 6 cyl right now? If its the 4, you shouldn't be getting quite that bad. IF you want mileage, get an alero witht the ecotec.

Redog 09-11-2007 06:58 PM

Mmmm Best years for the Alero.

I'd say anything from 99 to 2004

jayson_waltz 09-11-2007 07:15 PM

^lmfao!

pawzbear 09-11-2007 07:52 PM

Newer would be better IMO. the parts are newer, in better conditon, usually less miles. If i got another alero i would go with an 03-04. Coupe. teehee =D

steve-o 09-12-2007 05:22 PM

its about the ecotec baby! 550+km to a tank, oh yeah.

03alerospl 09-12-2007 07:19 PM

^^ really? thats it?
I get that with my 3400 :)

steve-o 09-12-2007 07:36 PM

well I do haul a 600lb ATV from time to time :)
Be honest, I'm not exactly sure what I get, that was just a guessedament.

If you only get 16 in town with easy driving you're definition of easy driving is a little off, or there's something wrong.

Don't lay on the gas and go the speed limit.

Its a 2.4 and the car I am sure had a couple scrapes in its past. The garages around here do not seem to know what they are doing, so I try to stay away from them.

I was thinkin ecotec and I want a little newer with less miles anyway

Cliff8928 09-14-2007 02:12 AM

You could have a problem with an injector, or possibly the coil cover.

Vinalero 09-14-2007 02:45 AM

Damn, Im only getting roughly 450km with my 2.4 :(

TheMeaningOfLife 09-14-2007 04:27 PM

Goosefang 09-14-2007 04:55 PM

I get 180-220 usually, but like I said the car has other issues as well as 155k on it

rustyballs_69 09-14-2007 11:10 PM
