Security light and remote start

My security light has been coming on intermitantly for a bit now and I am trying to eliminate all the possible causes so here's my question. My car came with a remote start (that never worked) and I would like to know where the passlock by-pass thingy is. Also, if I just unhook it (the by pass) it won't do anything funky right?

If you bypass it, it won't work.

Kinda a wiseass answer, but I know somebody with a Buick that the Modular went and that's what they did ;)

sry, I didn't explain very good I guess. I thought that when you installed a remote start on a vehicle with pass lock you had to get something that would allow the car to start without the key in the ignition. What I am looking for is this "dohickey" that does that.

You really don't need that all you have to do is put the passlock II wires on a switch and when you want to remote start the car just disable the passlock II then when you want it normal just flip the switch again. I did this because I didn't want to spend a fortune on a Bypass Module. I got everything in a thread on this forum just do a search if interested

No, I DON'T want the remote start installed, it came with the car and has never worked and I want to unhook it.

Sorry about. With that said then to remove the module you have to reconncet the passlock II wires or wire that they hooked to the module. Also you need to reconnect the heavy gauge yellow wire to the starter. Those should be the only wires that are cut and not spliced into if you follow me. On alot of these alarms most of the wires are splice into the ignition switch wires, and the passlock II wire and the Starter wire or the only ones that are cut. Once you locate the box you will see what I'm talking about.

No problem I hope everything worked out for you, and when you go to do this make sure you solder everything. Very important, not the easiest to do in that little space but believe me it will save you a major headache later.
