how much does it add

how much can a dual exhaust add. obviousley there are variables but generally or anyone that knowes from personal expirence? can you get 5hp out of it?

YALEROYNOT 04-10-2008 03:00 PM

i did pacsetter and magnaflow high flow ss cat 2.5 downpipe. and I would say at least 8 horse. it made a huge differance the whole range or throttle

irondiezl3 04-10-2008 03:01 PM

u actually felt a difference after being installed?

Adding the muffler won't make much of a difference. You need a downpipe, and piping to get the most out of the exhaust setup. You might see a 2hp hp gain with just a better muffler.

oh ye for sure

in the top end "passing speed" pulls harder and off the line. I also have a cai to

making the car get air in and out faster is always the best improvement. I cant say how much hp (if I do someone will argue it ) for sure but it was atleast 8 + never dynoed befor or after.

and the pace setter kit is bolt on and easy to install. good project to get your hands dirty if you want and have the tools.

i have a 3.4 so if you have a 2.4 i don't know

irondiezl3 04-10-2008 03:18 PM

ive got a cold air and for now im getting a flow 40 put on next month i want dual still trying to figure out what exhaust to go with but maybe im wrong i thought a muffler wouldnt do a damn thing not even feel different let alone add even half of 1hp id be happy with any gain but i want to try and get a dual that will add atleast 5hp

my kit I got was $240 shipped and I put it on in 4 hours ( with a bad shoulder ) its a nice kit and sounds good to I think

irondiezl3 04-10-2008 03:21 PM

is it dual? whats the brand any sound clips? i like the deeper sound like camaros mustangs 240 is cheap

Redog 04-10-2008 03:22 PM

A cat back you will probably get 5 hp.

Running true dual isn't worth it . It can be done, but it would be best to run 2 1.25 inch pipes. That's all the will fit in the exhaust channel under the car. You could do 2.5 dual with an "X" pipe, but you won't have the room for that

irondiezl3 04-10-2008 06:20 PM

88-1474 alero exhaust? is that the right one where can i get it that cheap and does that make it so i have tips on each side of car? what else do i need i dont see a converter

YALEROYNOT 04-10-2008 09:15 PM

it is cat back. youtube search "alero exhaust" for sound clips . it is 2.5 kit it is lower then the stock exhaust. yes 88-1474 is the right kit this is where I got the kit

this is who I got my cat from it is for the 3.4

info@rsautoparts.com

here is the email I got about the part number :

I just wanted to give you a heads up that MAG23435 for the Alero has been superseded by MAG23520. It's listed for the Malibu 3.1L, but is for the 3.4L as well. I just wanted to let you know so you didn't freak when you saw the part number on the box.

irondiezl3 04-10-2008 11:37 PM

y dont they label it for the 3.4 also y do they only list it for the 4 cyl?

jabartram 04-11-2008 12:10 AM

i did my custom 2.5 from the cat back to a flowmaster 80 series(single in dual out) for $225.00. you need to notch the rear bumper so it looks right.

irondiezl3 04-11-2008 07:41 AM

jabartram 04-11-2008 07:11 PM

nope a jack and stands help  no welding required

just take off the old and bolt on the new. if you can get the cat and down pipe to and do it all at once. the cat bolt could be a pain I jnst sawzalled mine off. I also suguest a new o2 sensor to if you get the old one out take it back. mine was bad I think (420 code) it could be that the cat so I did all new F' it. ;)

mine hits the tunnel a little but I tucked it way up. I am lowered so I want the clearance.

this is pullin out of my drive with the stock exhaust
