Will somebody please explain the FE2, FE3 suspension stuff...
I searched for some info, but I got nothing really. What models come with the FE2/FE3 suspension? What is the difference between the two? I have a 99 GLS 4 door, it has the FE2 (that's what I read under the spare tire cover). I thought I heard that only the coupes come with the sport handling package (FE3?). Wouldn't a top option GLS have it too?

My 02 GLS didn't come with the FE3, which I thought/was told it came with it.

Best way to find out is to check the RPO code for FE3. It is a stiffer suspension than the FE2.

Those are the RPO codes for the 01's. I'm sure Cliff can get you the codes for the 99's too. |
Stiffer how... just the springs? thicker anti roll bar? etc...
|
I know for sure the struts and bushings are different since I had to replace the bushings. Checking Gmpartsdirect.com, the front anti-roll bar is different as well. I don't know the detailed specs though.

Damn, I hope it's not too different. There's just something that irks me about not having the top handling package. I guess my springs compensate more than enough though, that and the fact that the car's been babied. It still feels tight...
Maybe I should've re-wrote the last sentence... |
Well, FE2 is standard (in the Alero, there is no FE1 unlike some cars).
With the FE3 you get... 225/50R16 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. Solid front sway bar Stiffer Springs firmer bushings firmer struts As far as i know, all GX and GL1 models are FE2. All GL2 models are FE3. GLS is standard with FE2, FE3 is optional. I'm sure if i messed something up Mfuller could correct me on that one. |
So FE3 IS available on the sedan?

i have a 01 4 door with FE3
