High Flow Cat....good brand?
I am thinking about getting a high flow cat to add to my flowmaster 80 series muffler ane dual tips. Right now for mods, I have a CAI, 180 T-STAT, and soon to be DHP PCM 1.0..except effing gas prices have made me hold off.
So, what is a good high flow cat...in your guys opinion the best bang for the buck...if any? here is a page I found with some cats:) http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pric...tic_Converters |
magnaflow makes some damn good cats for the money

^^ sooooo incredibly off topic, but funny does that make it a purrrrrbine?
|
Ok, so If I go with Magnaflow which one should I get? Furthermore, should I take of the resonator too, and run 2.5 inch pipping to my Flowmaster 80?
I talked to a local exhaust shop guy and he said the resonator removal would add nothing, and just make the car louder on the 3400? |

here is the one I got and I like it. it has the cat and the down pipe (2.5 stock is 2.25 or 2" ) I also have the pace setter cat back kit so no res I love the sound of it and the power increase is nice to. the price at $166.56 its a good deal and if you get a kit like pacesetter or borla you can do the job yourself and save a few bucks ;) rs auto parts shipps fast and they are good guys there. www.rsautoparts.com ![]() |

Now THAT'S what I call a "high - flow caT"!!!!!:yahoo: |
don't remove your resonator, it'll sound like crap especially if you get headers...damn it gets loud..
i didn't have problems with my magnaflow high-flow cat.. i wouldn't cut it off because of the sound, smell, and if WA smog laws are anything like CA you gotta get hooked up... |

The exhaust guy you talked to would be right if the stock resonator was a straight through type resonator. However, it's very restrictive, so removing it is a good idea. If you're worried about it being too loud, get a straight through type resonator with 2.5" in and out to put in it's place. |
Hey thanks for all your help guys...looks like I will probablly go with the Magnaflow then....or just maybe Dynatech.
off topic...I cleaned my cold air intake today and removed the fenderwell plastic to find my intake APART and just lying on the bottom...WOW. I hope that did not screw my car...sucking in straight unfiltered air has to be bad. So, I cleaned it with the K&N kit and re-oiled it....and I tightened the crap out of it...so hopefully that does not happen again. My cars power seems worse now then before...but is it probablly just me:) |
