anyone using a WAI ever have trouble

Ive read that a WAI can cause detonation in some engines. anyone have any experience with this trouble?

lol the spark plugs will ignite the fuel causing a detonation in the cylinders of any heat engine

i've had mine for a while now... no problems. ever.

detonation is when the fuel burns before the spark comes, because of the extra heat and compression on higher RPM's, its like running a diesel....

perhaps I should re word it. I have heard that warmer air can cause pre ignition in some engines. I know a lot of ppl on here have WAI. I just installed one and Im kinda concerned about the issue. I would rather have gone CAI but its not really an option with the weather where I live. I love the WAI sound but I dont wanna blow my engine. Just wondered if anyone has had any issues.

a WAI will show lill performance increase.. but higher fuel economy, a cold air will shower higher performance increase for a sacrifice of fuel economy

^^Either one will show slightly better performance and better gas mileage. Any restriction in the intake or exhaust that you get rid of will help the engine work more efficiently and therefore yield better gas mileage.

thanks for the input. dont wanna start up the CAI vs WAI argument again lol everyone has thier opinion. No issues with the WAI so far so im not worried about it. Thanks to all who answered the topic.
