I recently put the white faced halo gauges in my car, I love them so far, but it is harder to see the needle during the day time. So I was thinking of painting the needle a different color (like red), but then it got me to wondering if they would still light up fine at night.

Has anyone done this or does anyone have suggestions?

they will still glow but it will throw ur speedo off.

why will it throw off the speedo?? the only thing I can come up with is the extra weight on the needle?? the only thing id be worried about is if the light could shine through the paint.....

Only way I could see it throwing the speedo off is if I took the needles off and didn't put them back on properly.

i did it...just scratch off the white paint on the back of the needles, and add a light coat of whatever color u want...it mite throw off the needles, but if u ask me, it's hardly noticeable(like 1 km/h) but they don't light up as good tho...thats the only thing...

Yep, you have to scratch off the white paint and just paint lightly only where the white paint was whatever color you want, you don't have to paint the whole needle.

A very light coat af paint is the key. If there's too much the needles won't glow. I speak from experience and Silent will too. lol

Well, I took a visit to a hobby store yesterday and found some transparent red paint. That should work.

don't forget to post up pics when ur done...i gotta redo my needles cuz the model paint i used is too thick and light can't shine through...i wanna see what it looks like and i'll probly do mine over if i see a difference

What i did was took a red sharpie marker and colored the sides of the needles. It looks kinda cool, i don't think i have any pics of it since my comp crashed.
