Is HD Radio worth it?
The HD adapter for the HU i want is like $90. Is HD radio worth it? I'm putting in Sirius anyway....
|
I say no, I have a JVC with the HD built in and I don't like it because you can never get a steady signal, it goes out and comes back in and it gets really annoying.
|
I would look at the market for Hd stations in your area first. You can do that by going to this site http://www.hdradio.com/find_an_hd_di...io_station.php
If there is a big market or even stations that you like I would do it just to have it you never know, and get the sirus as well...when I had satellite radio I loved it just haven't gotten it back cause I use that money else where..anyway I would look to see if there are plenty of stations before I got it. |
Lonnie's right, Look at the market of HD in your area... If the stations that you already like (and put out a good analog signal as it is) have additional HD channels then it may be worth it... If you're in an outlying area where you already get poor reception then you're probably better off just going satellite.

stick with satellite :) HD still has commercials lol.
|
I think my market would be NY,NY.... as that's where most of my regular FM and AM stations originate now.... hmmmm. we end up listening to sirius mostly anyway I think.
|
HD radio is way better quality than satellite and my favorite morning show comes in in HD, so I like it. Dunno how much I'd pay for it, but it is nice. It's annoying when the "regular" and HD broadcasts get out of sync with each other, though, because it does come and go and then it glitches.

Well... it depends.
The HD FM I cant hear any difference with my stock setup Vs regular FM. The HUGE difference is with AM. It sounds like FM. The HD reception seems to be less than regular reception. Like if your on the verge of stations you wont get HD. |
depends if you have hd stations. some stations have up to three bands that can all be different and don't have commercials.

I'm waiting for a HD radio walkman that plays CD's and MP3's.
