Rolling car ?

Ok I have a 1999 alero the past few days I have notice that my car has rolled down the driveway, Now it did not roll that much maybe only about half a foot are so then it stops ?? I have also notice the past few weeks that when turning off the car the key will not turn all the way in the off stop it sits in acc ? the only way is to start the car up in shift down then back into the park, so my thought is that it could be the shift linkage ? maybe loose ?
has anyone every had this problem ?

Mine has always rolled backwards just a little. I think it rolls until the park gear catches, I've had 3 trannys btw.

and Idk about the other one, how steep of a hill is it :-/ if it just started idk how many miles are on it

my car only has 153,000kms on it NOT MILES

^^ If you've ever seen how Mahan drives.. you'd understand why he's on his 3rd transmission-

not sure if its called shift linkage or not? O_o .. but i dont think your gear shifter is going completely into park- or something is getting stuck when the button is pressed that takes it into a different gear?

pop yer gear shifter knob off and have a look-

Turn the wheels then.

Facing up, out from the curb, facing down, in to the curb. No curb, always out ;)

Thanks ! Do you guys really think that it is somthing to do with the tranny our something else ?

Midgear 12-01-2008 11:43 PM

I dont think it's the transmission.. I think its your gear shifter. your transmission wouldnt stop your key from going into the off position, your gear shifter in PARK is what lets the key go to off-

so check it! (i think)

stop driving the car like an ahoe and you wont go through 3 trannys. Do you think your driving a nascar car or something? People who drive like idiots annoy me......

no e-brake? its to the right of the center console in my car....

if it rolls that much, the bands and hydraulic seals are going in your transmission, if you have ever felt it slip, you wanna get new fluid and filter FAST! to save that ho's tranny
