Dome Light stays on

So this might be an easy problem to fix but my overhead dome light just stays on now and wont shut off for like 15 minutes. I have the switch pushed over to DOOR not just ON. Does anyone know what the deal is?

can be one of your door switch
try to test them manually, did this on my gf car last year and it was the door switch.

a door switch?

TheEdgeofSanity 02-16-2009 11:21 PM

yeah, all 4 doors (2 if u have a coupe) have a switch to sense if the door is ajar or closed. if they get stuck or broken, it can cause the light to stay on.

its like a little piston that gets pushed in when the door closes.

as far as i know the n-body doesnt have the "piston" you speak of, the door latch holds the chime, worn out latch, light stays on,, new latch problem solved

when i had my alero i had the same problem. my switch would be set to door.. however it would stay on until i switched it off or the battery died. when i installed my new cd player with the GOOD wiring harness.. the 80$ one lol.. it was fixed. so mine had something to do with the cd player which controls the chimes and all that shit.

He asked what the door switch was. You dont answer that by telling him its a switch. W/e you want to call it, its the THINGY that tells when the door is closed.

i see what youretalking about now. but the last time i checked i don't remember that little piece being stuck.. I'll check it again though.
It wouldn't have anything to do in regards to a fuse would it?

cherrington17 02-17-2009 07:41 AM

no. no fuse problem.

blown fuse = never turns on
