Subwoofer Wiring

Ok so this is my sub. below is the wiring diagram

This is how it is currently wired (illustrated to the best of my abilities in ms paint) but ive heard that the way you wire it depends on the ohms and sound or w.e if so, my question is- is my setup correct in the wiring? if i change it will it make better/different sound? What way is mine currently set up??

Without knowing:

1) what the hell is that round thing between amp and speaker? Only 1 wire going to it?

2) whats the positive and negative terminal.

AGT 03-18-2009 12:23 PM

Gotta be a cap distributor block

the round thing was whats on the back/outside of hte sub box with the black/red pos/neg terminals or w.e off the top of my head i cant remember exactly which ones are positive/negative, but thats how it was when i got it so i kept it that way.

edit: you can kind of see how it look on the picture above. i cant find a good one up-close

i think hes talking about the big red circle above your sub, in the drawing.

if its a cap... your doing it wrong.

so what your asking is... whats the best setup?

we'd need info on the amp. what power, what ohm, how many channels, etc

MattismodderX 03-18-2009 12:44 PM

its a Boss 1000w max amp w. 2 channels. no idea what ohm its at, ill go snap a picture of it in a second. just gotta wait for my smoke break (work...ugh)

AGT 03-18-2009 12:50 PM

What sub is it. Go to site. Look for instructions. Log out of Aleromod. just kidding

cherrington17 03-18-2009 12:55 PM

its a fosgate HE2. 400w DVC (i have 2)

MattismodderX 03-18-2009 01:04 PM

they're 2 12" 800w max (not sure about rms rating or ohm)
Heres a picture of all levels of the amp

this thread lacks information needed to help you.
are the subs each dual 4ohm voicecoils?
if so, i would go to crutchfield and look at their wiring diagrams so you can actually see how you should wire them as it is a lot easier than us trying to explain it to you. i would wire the 2 subs together at a 4ohm load and bridge the amp.

you said " i would wire the 2 subs together at a 4ohm load and bridge the amp" im not sure how to wire it like that, or what you mean by that

MattismodderX 03-18-2009 01:33 PM

Ok so heres the wiring diagram i found on crutchfield. the connectors on the actual subwoofer show 4 total, 2 pos/ 2 neg. thats on both sides of the subs i have (8 per sub).

heineck 03-18-2009 02:16 PM

put em in parralel.

what do u mean

heineck 03-18-2009 02:25 PM

look here

heineck 03-18-2009 02:27 PM

what you shouldv done is go witha 4 channel amp and power all your speakers and then run the subs in parrallel. but it all depends on if your amp can handle it

If that is how they are hooked up then they are in parrallel! This is good if the amp is stable and can support a 2ohm load on each channel.

heineck 03-18-2009 02:34 PM

they could be in series, i cant see through the box! lol like i said idk the specs on that amp

MattismodderX 03-18-2009 02:41 PM

going back to the shitty drawing i made in ms paint, the wires are connected to the 4 terminals in an X pattern, and the outside terminals on the one side are going to the box terminal, and then to the amp.
