3.4l Swap From A 2.4l

Is it possible to swap my knocking 2.4L motor for a newish 3.4L motor? and will the transmission still work. I know that I would need to make some mods to the exhuast and such but will it work? Sorry Im a noob when it comes to this stuff.

You don't want a 3400. Just swap in a working 2.4L. Or a built one.

3400 BAD 2.2L Good :)

It can be done, but it would be easier just to swap in the 2.4.

Whatever you want to do, your 3 easiest motor swap choices, just happen to be all great motors ;)

The 2.4L has major issues, I can see why you wouldn't want another one.

Swapping in a 3.4L will be much easier than swapping in a 2.2L, as long as you use the same year engine.

You will need 3.4L engine, trans, coolers, maybe drive-axles, PCM and BCM (VINs must match) Maybe more, but not as much as a 2.2L would need.

Unfortunately, by going to the 3.4L you will have LIM gasket issues and water pump, but that's better than a 2.4L and oil pump or bearing or water pump problems.

How is a 2.2L swap more intensive than a 3400 swap?

The 3400 needs a 4T45E transmission, whereas the 2.2L uses the same transmission as the 2.4L.

Fail! The bell housings are different between all 3 engines.

Doesn't matter, a bellhousing doesn't make the trans a 45 or 40.

That may be partly the case, but in regards to an engine swap they're not the same.

Just like for example the 4L60-E came on everything from a 2.2, 3.4, 3.8, 4.3, 5.7, etc... But they're not the same.

Personaly I would stick with the 2.4L cause its freakin sweet.

Right, but if you're swapping a 2.4 for an Eco, you still need to swap the Eco's 4T40E transmission in with it.

Oh, k.

Swapping in another 2.4 is your simplest solution if you want a new engine.
No matter what, you are going to need to do more work, buy more parts, and most likely spend more money if you swap in a different engine.

What is your reason for wanting to swap in a 3400 in the first place?

Stick to the LD9...you'll save more money than swapping over to another engine.
