why cant we safely carefully take out the honeycomb in the maf and be careful not to harm the sensors in it instead of spending 200 on one without the honeycomb?

Because it is a lot of work to recalibrate them afterward, and just removing the screen won't really do much. It is better to step up to an LS1 MAF if you want to upgrade, and use a "stock" LS1 calibration for it.

you know alot of people claim changing your maf doesnt help but ive done research online google yahoo and have read alot of posts on people who swear by that mod.

People swear by the tornado mods too. Doesn't mean it will work.

When it needs to be upgraded, it's for the same reason as for a filter or throttle body, to increase airflow.

But, the MAF sensor is a special case because it also needs to accurately track the airflow going into the engine. That means not only at wide open throttle, but at idle and all transitions in between, rates of change and deceleration. That is very important to drivability, and smooth, crisp throttle response.

way off subject but ive been looking on youtube and im in love with the sound of fujita cone filters. they sound so amazing. ive listened to a ton on a ton of different cars that is the perfect sound check em out on youtube see if you like it.

I had the screen removed, now I have a new stock MAF with the screen.

:haha: :dink: If you want something to sound good, get a full exhaust, or a supercharger or turbo, not some stupid cone filter, next thing you know you are gonna have a fake blowoff valve so people think you are turboed.....
