My Dad just sold my Bro his ALero and there's a small issue here....

I don't suspect a bearing cuz it doens't only humm when the car turns, and it's progressively loder as the car goes quicker. I was thinking it could be the tires, like how some tires get "loud" after lotsa miles. They are Falken Ziex 512(?) 205/60/15. Does this tire have road noise issues or IS it the bearing?

Thanks
Chris

if it`s a humming noise and your certain it`s the suspension, then yes iam sayin it`s the wheel bearing
and tires don`t get louder as they wear in, they get quiter think about what you said for a minute

^ the tires might get louder if they aren't inflated fully or too much (there might be a small lump, or series of lumps) Check the inflation. (sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one, but I could be wrong...)

That does sound more like a bearing. I don't know about those tires, but my Falken Visas aren't very loud. The bearing will get louder with speed (as it turns faster). It should actually quiet down as you turn, depending which way, when you're unloading it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Also they are quite worn in and hence won't be getting quiter. They've got over 50K Kms on them in 1 year. I'll pass this info on to him. Maybe he'll sign up too!

Get your tires balanced. They could be unbalanced and wearing wrong. Start witht the tires and go from there.

Ok, well with the parking lot test, I think it's a bearing. $600 from Stealership for one side ($400 just for part!!!)

So is there a dealership or store that gives us a discount on OEM or aftermarket parts?
And how can you tell which is gone? The service guy said the left, the mech said the right?!?!

i think there $120 from autozone. I replaced both my front ones and no problem since
