Manual to Power Window Conversion
Well, when I got my tint ticket, Mr. Officer and I broke my drivers side window roll downer in my car trying to roll down the window. I need to open up the door to find out exactly what I broke, but to anyone's knowledge, how hard would it be to convert my manual windows to power?
Any input is appreciated. |
i'm also trying to figure this out...

get new door guts (ebay might work...motor, regulator, clips, etc.), and wire it in through the fuse box. Driver door is separate from the other door(s) electronically.

 I like em, but rolling down the passenger side one is a pain in the ass. Quote:
yea, he and i kinda busted it, he gave me $40 on the scene (this guy was real cool, but looking back on it he prolly didn't wanna get sued) so regardless of the cost I can afford to get a manual regulator or w/e I need if I don't do the conversion. |
bump bump bump ne one?

I am also trying to figure this out. i badly want to convert. i asked my local GM dealership and they said it could not be possible...i think they are full of shit. anyone wanna help with this problem?

i'd imagine, power, switch, motor, ground... and wire it all up like that..

i looked into this a little at the wrecker. it requires alot of stuff
you need the door lock thing that goes where the manual window thing is (i think) need to take the door insert that has the window switchs. i dont know if they also have power locks or not. i want to get one for a four door and use one of the window buttons for locks if it's possible. now the tricky part. you can't just slap the motor on the manual window regulator, so i believe if you just take the manual regulator out, put the whole power window regulator in, and bolt it in. of course you would also need new door panels. or fiberglass yours for some new speakers. now for the wiring, i dont believe the wiring is there or anything, so i think you have to wire up the windows yourself. i'd make sure you leave enough wire from the switches for room incase of error this is just what i think. i haven't looked into it that far. this is just what i saw when i took a door apart at the wrecker. i would try this, but i need a power window regulator first. i don't know how to take the regulator out, but i've heard it's not hard. |
I've been tryin to do this too, I just need a drivers side panel, and there was guy a while back who clained to have done this... Knuckleballer I think? He sed it was relatively easy

it really doesn't sound that hard. just run some power wires. i've got a shop and have all the wires and tools. just need the actual hardware now. either from a parts car, or a wrecker.
quick question, does anyone know if the four door regulators are different than two door? i think i remember seeing they were in fact different |
Hook up one of these bad boys to where the handle broke...Redneck power windows

well if one wanted to, they could probably cut the manual window handle shorter, put some gearing on it and a motor, and bam, power windows, and they would probably be pretty fast to if you used a bigger motor
