Keeping the Alero clean
 

Hey I have to ask this question, cause the dirtness and stains in my Alero are driving me nuts. And please no hate, I don't really know which cleaning products to use for what. Water + soap/car soap all the way lol.
So last week wify spilled coffee all over the passenger seat (light gray color). So I have a nice grainy brown stain. No idea how to clean it. Then I have salt stains all over the crapet (from winter time) that seem impossible to be washed off.. finally the dash keep getting dusty and the centre piece (with prnd123) is constantly getting crumbs all over it (even though I don't eat in the car o.0). I'm the kind of guy who likes to keep the car clean and new looking inside and outside all the time so this stuff has been bugging me for a while now. WHat do you use to protect the dash from collecting dust (my cousin's Intrepid's dash has never any dust on it and he can't care less about cleaning the car lol ) and what to use to clean the carpets and seats ? Any ideas ? Help will be appreciated.

i'm almost positive... our dash PRODUCES its own dust. i generally keep my interior clean, and there is always a layer of filth on there. i don't get where it comes from! :banghead:

we have a couple pro detailers on here. so you kinda need to qualify what your looking for? pro clean, or budget clean?

theres this stuff by turtle wax it ICE comes in a little bottle, it does wonders on the dash, and door panels

I would have to say budget clean. Gee I cleaned the dash in the morning and by now it allready got dusty... and CRUMBS in the prnd123!!!
I also forgot to add the cup holder which loves to get sratches and dirt all over itself, even though all I put there is paper cups..

I used some foam stuff I got from a car shop for the dash. It did it's job to clean and give it shine but no longer that a day. Something to protect the dash would be good.

Tuff stuff foam interior cleaner for the coffee stain on the seats or carpet. I use it for my stains (coffee, clamato, coke, etc...), and it works pretty well. I have also heard some people in this forum use water with dishwashing soap. Im not really sure how you do this though.

Hehe tried the dishwashing soap and worked for the dash but not the seats.
Also hate the dust in the freaking switches (fog lights, trac etc...)

If the soap didnt work for the seats, try the tuff stuff cleaner. Just let it soak a while, then with an old toothbrush, you kind of brush the foam in. Finally, take out the excess with a towel. Usually when I do this, my towel comes out really brown. I also use it for those hard to reach places. The can costs around 2 to 3 dollars, and does a pretty good job.

Yeah I use the old vacuum brush tip. Gotta try it tomorrow.

Buy a bottle of oxy clean stuff, any generic bottle, I get it at the dollar store.

SD-20 All Purpose Degreaser Foam Cleaner

I live on this stuff, works on so many things.

I learned about the stuff when I worked on printing presses. Works great on cleaning under the hood too.

Had a friend that had got a new Denali, was using a black sharpie, some how hit the head liner and left a 5 inch mark, a little SD-20 took it right out.

Just wish they sold the stuff in stores, that way I would not have to buy 12 at a time, but ends up lasting me a year.

For the carpet, i use warm water with a very little amout of tide. then just pat it out with a towel.

Spot Shot, http://www.spotshot.com/products/18-oz-aerosol/. Works effing great! You can get the 14 oz cans at the dollar store but 14 oz doesn't go very far.

I bought a bissel Little green to clean my interior and trunk and it works great. You can also use it around your house for small spills and stains. They cost about 100 dollars but it's a good investment. Im also a fan of the tuff stuff for stains that have been around for a long time.
