Overheating problem
Starts to overheat after i drive it for 30 minutes the coolant light has been on for about a month now and when i filled it up it didnt go off. When it gets hot it dumps all the coolant out of the overflow tube in the surge tank, and i just replaced the thermostat. I flushed out the dexcool about 2 or 3 months ago and replaced it with chameleon coolant which is supposed to be safe for GM vehicles that require dex cool:banghead: HELP

Firstly why would you let it go a month without topping off the coolant? Because of this there is probably air in the line. Bleed the system by heating the car up to operating temp and removing the bleeder screw from the top of the water pump. As soon as no more air comes out replace it quickly so you dont lose all the coolant.

there was coolant in it, The light came on when it was full and wont go off
did you bleed the system yet?
make that shit bleed.
stfu and bleed it....... thermostat could be plugged or not opening, or you could have a block
I'll try to bleed it tomorrow and see what happens.

k, let us know what happens |
i made it bleed a shit load of air came out but once the car gets hot (above the half way mark but below the H) the coolant starts coming out of the overflow tube on the surge tank maybe a bad pressure cap? and the sensor is bad in the surge tank im guessing since the coolant light stays on
deja vu.....bad pump / engine gasket(s)
Yeah, replace the water pump, and the Lower Intake Manifold Gaskets
OUCH been there effed with that lol
FIXED IT! i went to the dealership and picked up a new cap as soon as i put it on the coolant light went off, i was looking at the old one and the gasket on it was messed up and pinched it looked like it was stuck open so no pressure was building up and when it got hot the coolant was just getting pumped out like there was no cap on it at all

Easy fixes are always the best ones. Happy for ya.
