Headers

Whats the functional difference between NA headers and Turbo Headers?

jrim 08-13-2009 05:38 PM

Turbo headers push exhaust gases into the turbo, NA headers flow straight back

The turbo ones have a turbocharger and wastegate flange... N/A ones just have a hookup for a regular exhaust system.

ah.. neat.

so they are definitely not interchangeable.

Nope, unless you made your downpipe have a turbo flange connection and had a wastegate blockoff flange for where the turbo wastegate would go. Why?

Hmm maybe you're considering buying headers now and putting on a snail later and don't want to waste money... well you can add a turbo flange to your headers no problem.. exhaust in its nature is all custom and welding, you can do whatever you want.

Does that style you described include turbos with an internal wastegate or is that a different style of header?

Not entirely. Just wondering. I like to fill in gaps in my knowledge, and engine stuff i'm very blank on.

It would just not have a wastegate flange. Or you can use a blockoff plate. No biggie.
