Not sure if this should have been posted in HOW TO section or not...
me and a freind installed this on his GTP.... http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/products/..._drl_switch.htm For thoes of you who have installed one, would this work. it does say on that website, for 97+ Grandprixs only... so i doubt it... where did you get yours, and how much, also i remember some of you disabling yours like a do it your selfer or that may have been year specific Thanks for your time Ash |
if your trying to just disable your drls.. you don't need to spend anymoney doing it.. takes like 5min to do it yourself...
open the hood pull cover off fuse box.. pry off drl relay with flathead screw driver (i think its #24 or something.. but refer to the label on the back side of the fuse cover) take cover off of drl relay slip peice of folded paper between the bottom most contacts (there is a contact in the middle of 2 contacts.. it will be touching the top contact.. slip the the paper between the middle and bottom contact.. it should be open... this will prevent the middle contact from moving down and touching the bottom contact when your car is on, thus preventing your drls from turning on).. this working perfect.. no problems.. no codes.. sorry i don't know the pins off hand... i believe it gets slipped between like 44 and 44a.. but don't take me on that cause i did this a long time ago. if you need any more help or need more details let me know and i'll take mine out and look at it and i'll get the exact pins on the relay that you slip it between |
Thank you mr crazy :P
So the paper wont like start on fire or something... cuz u did this a while ago and ur car is in good form i guess... LOL Ill have to give it a try.. maby take a pic if i get it right... and or some details on pin numbers for others so we can have this in the HOW to fourms. Will see if i get around to it this weekend. Mon. comes snow here in Indiana i guess.. :( :huh?: |
lol.. no it wont start on fire... you can use something else besides paper if you want.. as long as its non-conductive..
ok it worked then started to smoke... i take it gum wrapers one wont work?
j/k ;)
LOL so did you get it working?
Havnt tried it yet, ill let ya know if and when i get it done ;) thanks for all ur help
Ash |
Ok having a little trouble getting the damn fuse off any idea's I tried the screw driver and couldn't get it underneath the fuse???? help please
Flat blade, will pop it right out.... have to use some muscles tom ;)
get a pair of pliers that you can adjust the size of. the get a good grip on it and yank. worked for me. also, there's a way to mess with your bcm to do it but i wouldn't do that unless you knew exactly what wires you're cutting because there are other wires in there that look very similar and if you cut them, your car won't start...not that i know from experience or anything...
i just used a small piece of electrical tape and folded it in half so it wouldn't stick
first of all, you should be pulling out a black relay, not a fuse heh.. not sure if your prying at the wrong thing or just called it the wrong thing.. anyways though, it does take a bit of work to get out, just work at it.. you shouldn't have to worry about breaking it.. put some muscle into it :)
Yeah I meant to say relay just typed fuse, ok no I got the damn thing out where the heck does it go I put it in the bottom most contact and I turned on the car didn't work??
evilinside09 and i think this is what u were talking about...for any one who wants to give this a try ;)

^ make sure you read that thread completely. I believe it says if you have a 2001+ you will trigger an svs light.
