hard to say what it might be. if no ABS light snd tac light so probably not the wheel hubs. Have you noticed anything odd with the car? noise?

hok666 10-27-2009 01:35 PM

maybe the rear brakes, but I just changed the pads late this summer.. I do need all new rotors just cause there 8 years old.. just like the spark plugs and wires and pads before oh and the battery.. I replaced all of that this summer

go to your local advance, auto zone, napa, or oreillys and they'll check it out for you tell us the code and we'll go help you from there.

TheEdgeofSanity 10-27-2009 05:24 PM

the SVS light cannot be read at places like autozone...

those places can only read SES codes

squatch81 10-27-2009 07:51 PM

Check all of your fuses, mine came on when I popped a parking/marker light fuse.

hok666 10-27-2009 11:39 PM

actually I jjust thought it might be when I put the car in reverse so Ill check those fuses tomorrow and OLDSMAN is right autozone and the rest can only check for SES codes.. The scan tool at autozone didnt find anything with the car on accessories and while it was running.. so Ill check the fuses and if that dont work Ill blam it on 8yo rotors and if that dont work Ill take it to the shop and have professionals look at it..

jackal2000 10-27-2009 11:39 PM

it's not the gas cap, it would be an SES code related to the evap control bs. i just went through that with my car.

I figured it out the other night I had my brights on and got out at a gas station and looked and saw one was out... LOL

DansGen1Alero 11-17-2009 11:20 AM

lol, i would have said the only time mine went off was witht he headlights........ only other thing would be sometimes at the 100k or 150k some of them go off as a reminder for tune up...not sure if the alero does tho

TheEdgeofSanity 11-17-2009 03:53 PM

totally not true for my car for brake lights. i had all lights out except for one and the SVS light never came on!

DansGen1Alero 11-17-2009 04:11 PM

may have been one of the changes from the 99 to the other years? I dunno, cant think of much else for that light other then service reminders and bulbs....id even think the gas cap

Cliff8928 11-17-2009 04:51 PM

The SVS light will come on if you have a high-beam out if they are your DRLs If I remember right.
