2 Head Units?
 

So I recently purchased an in dash cd/dvd player and installed it into my car. I love it but the sound quality just isn't as good as my cd player and my subs don't hit as hard. I saw a pic on here a few weeks ago where it looked like someone had a cd player and dvd player both installed in their car, sorry couldn't find it while searching.

Anyways I plan on cutting into my trim below the hvac controls, probably where the cigarette lighter is and install my cd player there. I was wondering has anyone else tried this and would I simply just split all the speaker wires to hook both of the head units up? And for the radio im just going to hook it up into my cd player. Even if i mess up while cutting or if this doesnt work for some reason i can always get the trim for like 10 bucks from a junk yard.

So Good idea or Horrible idea?

never seen that, dnt even think it would work good. you probably saw the dvd/cd deck mounted below a screen above, which is only a screen not another deck.

nah im pretty confident they were to separate decks but you maybe right.

You cant wire two set of speaker leads into one speaker.

Why doesnt it work? well because your putting power into another units output section. Its like the no-go hole. You dont want anything pushed up there, do ya?

couldn't you use diodes at the speakers that prevent the power from going to the other deck. not sure what it would do for sound quality though

Im not sure. Its not D/C its A/C current. So i doubt it would work.

This is just a bad idea. Pick one or the other, or give it a try and blow them both up!

if you had 2 separate, you COULD in theory accomplish it. But your looking at alot of high end circuit work, per speaker line. For no major benefit.

Sure diodes might isolate from backfeeding AC current..but you'd fry the speakers in no time.

in short... don't do it.

what he has was a headunit, and a carputer. (touch screen computer built into the car)

many people who do this, forgo the headunit and have all their music/speakers driven by the computer.

sorry to kinda jack your thread but my moms 99 isuzu rodeo came stock with an indash 6 disc separate and just below the actual hu if that makes any sense. its been laying around for like 3 years and its in new condition. my question is is there any way to hook that into my pioneer hu? it has two aux ports if that matters at all and i can turn both on and off in the settings also if that helps.

My Dvd player has 2 set of rca outputs. (one set for the rear and one for the front) What if....

I have two different set rca cables plug into those leading them to some type of splitter and having that splitter plugged into my cd player's audio input then having my cd player hooked up to the speakers?

Would that work?

With amps for the subwoofers/ speakers I wouldn't think you'd see much of a difference in quality.. did you play with the settings on the amps to try an compensate?

the only thing that would accomplish, is destroying the RCA jacks on one or both of the headunits. Too much Voltage into them = BZZT! dead.

most likely not. they usually have proprietary controls which tell them what to do/how to do it, and a special wire harness.

cd changers aren't friendly w/ aftermarket stuff.

clutch i played with it time and time again just doesnt sound as clear, noone else would probabaly notice but me but its my car haha

what would work? get a better headunit, with a better audio processor.

when i moved from pioneer to alpine, i saw a very noticeable difference in clarity....its just all in what parts are used.
