Tinted headlights and tails

2 Attachment(s)
Well the were supposed to lightly tinted like my tails. Of course the guy who did my tails had to leave early so another painter got my heads.

There was a slight difference of opinion in what the word "tint" means betweenthe painters. I'm just really glad I have HID's now...

re rikey.... nice job...how's the light output on the headlights

Th0r 03-01-2010 04:22 PM

Well, considering I have HID's it's crap, haha. Light output seems the same as factory.

That sucks. A very light smoke looks good on headlights. That.... not at all. Headlights are meant to be transparent.

you should go back and say i asked for a tint not a coat of paint, i want it fixed now.

While we're on the subject, anyone have a favorite brand for smoking heads?

Vic28 03-01-2010 06:22 PM

Damn car looking good and super clean, I luv it.:thumb:
If your not satisfied with the headlights than take it back. How much ya paid to get the rear done?

Did the second guy not see the tails, to use as a reference? I wouldn't even have left the shop with those tinted like that, if that's not what I wanted...

Tails do look good, along with the rest of the car.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge for both heads and tails?

Sounds like a good place to start, I'll look into it. Thanks

Tinted heads seem kinda pointless to me, u shoulda just got covers, that's easily removeable if let's say a cop decideds to break ur balls over it. Did they do the paint/reducer mix or is it actual sheet tint

Weazel 03-01-2010 06:40 PM

Tint like that is pretty bad, but a light smoke looks nice if accented well imo

Th0r 03-01-2010 07:43 PM

Its paint. Base black and clear with two coats of clear on top. I paid nothing for it which is why I'm not too upset. I work at the dealership, but the manager said hed charge $60 a set for customers.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. A cop could be a rooster about it, but lighting is ok with the HIDs, and when I spray the car black it might took pretty sick with the blacked out lights. Plus the guy was doing me a favor so I can't bust his balls too much.

Nate's Alero 03-01-2010 08:08 PM

i've got 35% on the tails, i just did it, and will be doing the same on my Heads... it will hide the fogging of them, and will look awesome too

alero_bmxer 03-01-2010 08:13 PM

nate, i have wanted to try the tint on my headlights but wouldnt it come off if i took it to a self car wash? just curious i dont wanna spend 20 dollars on tint and have it rip off on the first car wash i go to

heineck 03-01-2010 08:25 PM

then use niteshades, if u apply and dont like take a rag and sum lacquer thinner and it comes right off plus its about the same price and has enuff to do 4 sets

cherrington17 03-01-2010 08:46 PM

imo, your black bezels looked better.

PappaSmurf 03-02-2010 03:12 AM

Your headlights look EXACTLY like mine, Yet I have the afore mentioned headlight covers. During the day they will appear smoked, and the night I take them off and show off the HID along with the secret weapon(s). LMAO

nope, film will not come off once applied...unless you peel it off
