Thanks, Gavin |
To Remove:
Disconnect the battery ground cable. Drain the cooling system. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts. Remove or disconnect the following: Drive belt. Water pump pulley bolts and pulley. Water pump bolts, pump and gasket. Clean the water pump mating surfaces. To Install: Install or connect the following: Water pump gasket and pump. Water pump bolts. Tighten the water pump bolts to 89 in lbs (10 Nm). Water pump pulley and bolt until snug. Drive belt. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs (25 Nm). Fill the cooling system. Check for leaks. Connect the battery ground cable. |
I think(don't know) there's a good possibility you might have to raise the engine as well, as there's a nasty lack of space in the front of the LA1. this shouldn't be too hard, just follow the how to on changing the serpentine belt.
Another note: I was changing my oil the other day, and the bottom side of the oil pan actually says "Use wooden block to raise engine" on it. |
If you remove the coolant expansion tank there's plenty of room. Four pulley bolts and five bolts that attach the pump to the engine. Relatively easy and cheap repair

I replaced my water pump with no problems. You don't have to remove anything extra. It takes maybe 30 minutes to an hour to do it yourself.

Not even the coolant?

I would remove the coolant, but that's all. You don't need to remove the excess tank, although if you need to, you can remove the two small hoses to get them out of the way if they are. Also remove any gunk around where the gasket goes just to make sure it seals properly.
I went to an Autozone and the guy there was very helpful as to anything else I might need. So I would ask, although I guess since really anyone can work there, I wouldn't take them to seriously. |

Yea, as long as you're not wanted by the FBI and pass a drug test you are in.:p A Haynes manual can be helpful as well. |
I wouldn't bother disconnecting the battery cable either.

No drug test unless you crash a company truck. You do need a valid SSN though. |

Guess I'm out, I sold mine on the black market. |
