Transmission Screeching Noise
I took Angel for a spin and decided to flex her a little bit driving. So I gassed it and enjoyed the rev and roar until the gears switched at a high rpm which resulted in a noise that I can only call a screech-scrape. Anyone have any experience with such a thing happening?

did u check ur trans fluid level?
|
I don't think the plug to accurately check it was ever found haha. Explain please?
I was planning to get her flushed before I made my road trip so she should get filled back up. But I sure am curious. |
Auto trans only - Fill level plug is on the end where the passenger side driveshaft comes out. It is towards the engine and below the level of the driveline. Has to be checked while warm, engine running and in park. Remove plug and add fluid slowly until it starts running out. A two man job for sure... Haynes/Chiltons both show it pretty clearly. IIRC it is the only square bolt head.

K I got the haynes manual so I'll take a look. Any other possibilities or afflictions?

Not much else you can do easily, maybe add a better tranny cooler...
|
Interesting. I took my car to the shop to get the tranny flushed and I asked him about the screeching noise. He said if I was flooring it (like I was) that noise is a good noise of the gears connecting. Hmm...
|
so.... don't floor it? problem solved.

Haha indeed. New filter and flush and it feels happier for it.
