can you put 5.25 in front?
will they fit how much modding needed what size is the speaker i was looking at some components i have 4x6 plates now so its a 4 inch speaker and tweeter is completely seaperate. i need more midbass without having to do major modding.

They make adapter plates but they usually dont work out right for most people.
I had to make my own mounts. Everything was able to go back to stock if needed. |
do you think 5.25 will be better than 4x6
|
Without a doubt. Then I think 6.5" is better than 5.25" Then 8" better than 6.5"
Where it stops nobody knows... :) |
it stops when your bankrupt and deaf.

You can put 5.25 in there. You just might have issues with depth. I'm in the process of putting 6.5's there. But turns out I got the deepest ones ever. You will also need to buy or make a bracket to mount them. I had to shave off alot of plastic on the inside of the door panel. And I still have to take more off because it still hits at higher volumes. It takes alot of work but is possible.

6.5 (and some 5.25) need custom fiberglass mounts. |
wait to put in 5.25 wouldnt you just take off the 4x6 bracket so the speaker sits flush on the door? according to crutchfield almost all 5.25 fits without any moding i doubt that.
|
Depends on the depth. If its a really deep speaker, the magnet will hit the window when its rolled down. So you'd need a spacer/mounting bracket.
The downside with that is that then the speaker hits the inside plastic on the door. Its a vicious cycle. |
Just say'n,
http://www.qlogicdirect.com/index.ph...1765564fbdee39 Crutchfield will tell you that all your shits will float if just buy something. |
Did I ever post pictures of the 5.25's installed directly to the door panels?
Its what jabartram did and I gave it a try and worked out AWESOME. Its pretty simple really. Take the door panel off/out. Place the speaker over the grill as much as possible. Rotate the speaker so that when the screws are put in they wont come thru the part you see. Make them go thru into the grill area. Then whats left you simply put a shit ton of silicone caulk around it to fill the void and seal the speaker to the door panel. Ive used my own brackets, replacement 4x6s and this method. This method was the absolute best bar none. |
more info ryan?
i have my 5.25 kickers installed with the adapter brackets, already destroyed the driver one from some rubbin |
forget what i said about 6.5s fitting. i got some really deep ones and turns out they where touching the door panel. so i just cut giant holes in the door panel and put the grill on top. it looks half decent. not perfection but i would rather have it look questionable and sound awesome.

Sorry Im not finding any pictures. The idea is pretty simple really. The speakers will go face down on the inside of the door panel. They will find a sweet spot in the recess of the 4x6 grill. Rotate it around so 3 out of 4 holes can be used- so screws that come thru do so under the grill. Predill and screw her down. Then get a tube of silicone caulk and form a good seal around it. I used an entire tube on my set. It will work/dry just takes time. |
