Sunroof thing?
 

Umm just outta curiousity...whats the bar that pops up after the sunroof slides back? is it neccesary to have??

First pic, driver side of bar of sunroof with plastic peice to stop the bar from being ripped back with the wind.



Second pic, passenger side of that plastice peice broke off..anyone kno how i can reattach it? after you hit 60mph with sunroof open the bar shakes and its annoying.



Third Pic. Why the hell is there velcro in the middle of the bar. anyone else have this?

i have the little clip on the driver side missing too! and does shake in the wind... depending on how much wind there is and stuff..... i could use some help on this too. :p

and i have the velcro too idk what its for... but doesnt bother me.

i wonder if its really neccesary to have? i was thinking of just taking some wire cutters and clipping it off...idk tho.

i dont think you can buy a new clip..i stil have my old one that broke off. You wanna know how many damn times i tried to super glue that thing back in...idk either but it works but then breaks off again a week later.

Try some JB weld. Not sure what the bar is for though.

im thinking its a wind deflector? idk. when the roof is open it pops up and you hear a light wooshing sound, like if you were to stick a pen out the window.

If its pulled down with my fingers it sounds more like a hum? likes its an air pocket or something being created idk.

Be the test dummy and cut it off to see what happens. ;)

it is a factory sunroof... i have the same exact one in my car.

Trust me thats not a factory sunroof, its aftermarket.

Umm..it is factory sunroof. the sunroof was an option for the gx in 2000. so it is factory.

i have the same thing in my 01 GLS v6.. its FACTORY!! lol.

I never said the alero doesn't come with a factory sunroof I'm saying that one isn't a factory sunroof its a dealer installed or webasto aftermarket one. I have an 01 gls with a factory sunroof and that's not it

Umm. You a newbie. Dont talk to us like we are dumb. sure that might be a factory sunroof for you beacuse yours is newer and you probably have all the top of the line factory stuff in yours (monsoon system, power windows, shiny aluminum rims, all that fun stuff.) mine is a base model (crank windows, no lights on the mirror, manual side mirrors) all the BASIC stuff but a sunroof was an option that the factory handed out and mine got it. so congrats you might be right about your car but not ours.
